Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to cd/dvd rom drives right click properties then properties again then tick enable cd digital cd audio for this cd rom device or scroll to dvd regions select the no _ for your specific area If this does not fix the problem you might try Click start control panel administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose DeleteAfter deleting the keys, close the registry editorReboot your computerOpen My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. oryou might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver hope this helps

note : the cd or dvd device when you didn't use for along time that cause to damaged

There has always been a problem with LG Drives,I experienced it too.Anyways try one of the following:

• Get a Lens Cleaner which is easily available in the market and run it on the drive.
• Check your drive with a different DVD-R and see if it works,if it does work,the problem is that the disk is unreadable,try washing the disk with toothpaste(i aint kidding this works)
  
• Clean tray with a soft cloth

• Last option,try the service centre

• First, open the Device Manager and uninstall the drive,. If you need instructions on how to open the Manager, here is the link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283658
  

• Download and install CCleaner (free) from Piriform
  

• Run the cleaner to remove old un-needed temp files
  

• Select the StartUp tab and look for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or need, and disable them. Caution, do not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they do and that you do not need them.
  

• Run the Registry cleaner, when asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES, and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry.
  

• If asked about a particular file that it wants to clean, select "yes to all"
  

• Reboot

Windows should reinstall the drive when the computer boots back up.

If you take all these step and you still can not open the player, chances are your CD/DVD componet needs to be replaced. Good Luck,

As with all CD products yuo do need to ensure that you use a good CD cleaner to keep it maintained, however this problem is common amongst alot of drives

Plese try the following

1) Click Start> Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager
2) In the device manager window there will be a option entitled 'DVD/CD ROM drive' with a little + next to it click on the plus
3) right click on the DVD ram option that is presented and then click uninstall
4)It will ask are you sure you wish to unistall click yes and then it will ask to restart your PC, follow the instructions through
5) On restart it will install the drivers
6) Once installation is completed retry

If the above fails, then it may be that the drive itslef is faulty, the only definitive test is to try in another PC, if it fails in there then you know its the drive

If your drive was able to recognize a disk before, but now has stopped... POSSIBLE solution... (don't shoot the messenger on this one, lol!)

I'm sure you have tried, but have you cleaned your optics lately?
Using a Q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol, and GENTLY rotate the swab across the lens, rotating it in the opposite direction you are wiping. This should "lift" any dust or grime from the lens. I would also clean the tray with a soft lint-free cloth (using an air-can just moves the dirt around, doesn't solve the problem)

no it doesn't

Try using a cleaning disc on your drive.

If you can't read store-bought DVD's, or burn on blank DVD's even after the cleaning -
the drive is faulty and must be replaced.
