If you are running Windows XP or higher as your version of Windows then there is no driver needed as the drive has native support in the operating system.
If the drive is not showing up you may need to double check to see if you just need to resign the drive letter for the drive. If the drive is not showing up in disk management then this coudl be a sign of a problem with the drive its self.

Check if the drive is detected in the Bios.You can get there by hitting F2 on the startup.Try reinstalling the primrey and scondry channels from the device manager as well.Incase it is still not working than you might have to get it replaced or reinstall the wiindows.

If you have other Optical Drive in your computer like a CDwriter then installed it where that LG 52x CDROM drive. Observe if the same problem occur after 2 or 3 hours.
Try connecting the CDROM drive to the IDE ports (Secondary IDE port) like setting its jumper to Master.
Ensure that the connection to its power supply is firm.
Change the setting of your POWER OPTIONS which is under the CONTROL PANEL and change the setting for TURN-OFF HARD DISK to NEVER.
