LG (GDR-8162BI) (GDR8162BI) Internal DVD Drive Questions & Answers
After inserting DVD movie I get message that it
Windows Media Player, and many others, will not play everything, regardless of your hardware and it's supporting software.
To overcome this, I recommend a free media player such as VLC (Video Lan) which is free and has a huge amount of codecs and a multitude of other features, including the abilitiy to play most "Region Locked" movies. There are several other good free ones also such as GOM etc, but I prefer VLC due its' mutifaceted capabilities.

IM LOOKING FOR THE DRIVERS
Normally, DVD Drives are plug and play and there are already native drivers (in built software inside the Operating System) installed on your Operating System, hence you do not need to install the driver for it anymore since it should work automatically, once it is connected to your computer.
You can try downloading the firmware for the said device on your computer manufacturer's website (DELL, HP, etc.)
Hope this helps.

I am facing the same problem with the LG DVD
1. To solve hang on boot
Move the CDROM behind the hard drive on the boot order
2. To solve freezes on drive reads
Update the driver from manufacturer
or
Change the windows read ahead method
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=132882
But again, sounds like need new CDROM drive.
So there you have it, a couple of different ideas on how to try to
debug the problem and a likely solution that we all agree on: replace
the drive.
Good luck to you!

I need to install my HL-DT-ST-RW/DVD GCC-4522B
In Summary; I have a Dell Dimension 8100 desktop computer. I only have a CD-ROM drive. The CD drive broke, so I bought and installed a CD/RW- DVD Combo Drive (Model # GCC-4522B). I need to know where to set the jumper on the back. The options are CS, SL, or MA. Currently is set to SL but it does not work. I do not get the drive symbol to display under My Computer icon. I thought it was jut plug in and play. Need help if there is something else I need to do. Any response is very much aprreciated. Thank You!
