A line appears across my screen on my medion laptop

Perhaps your monitor is faulty. You should check it out at a repair store. Also, if you have a VGA connector for an external monitor, try with that. If the lines are gone, that means your monitor is faulty.

My daughters laptop keeps turning

Hi,
A common problem is overheating with these laptops. They then shut themselves donw to prevent damage. It may have dust buildup inside. This needs to then be cleaned by a professional. Alternately, whe may be putting the laptop on her lap and blocking the ventalation ( even though they cal them laptops, the manufacturers quite often put the main vent on the bottom of the machine, thus causing a problem when clothing blocks the vent).
cheers

Wireless internet for desktop.

Not sure what type of laptop you have, but look at the function keys on your keyboard (F1, F2, F3). Normally one of those will have an Antennae looking icon, if so then press your fn key and that key and it should turn it on.

My wireless has gone capoot.

Most desktop computers are not by default wifi capable (barring a few models that include an internal USB wifi adapter in the case.) If you have added wifi to the unit by installing an internal PCI-Card Wifi adapter or plugged in a USB Wifi adapter into one of your USB ports then that capability will be added. As far as a Keyboard command to activate the Wifi, that is usually dependent on the Computer and/or the brand and model of the adapter installed. What brand of Computer and model are you having problems with? If the Wifi was added after it was purchased, what brand and model of adapter are you using?

Problem with medion akoya laptop monitor

First try to connect a monitor to the laptop and see how it works with that.
If it's still nothing than try to get the hard drive out, last time I had same thing with a HP laptop, HDD was dead and it didn't even turn on till it was in it.
You can get the HDD out by removing the small panel at the back of the laptop.
Either way you'll know what's wrong if any of my ideas going to give you some progress.
Or if it's still a no go than maybe another expert can give you some good ideas.

Unable to boot up

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Press F8 repeatedly on the very first screen you'll see after turning the system on.
3. Select "Repair Your Computer"
4. Hit Next on the keyboard layout
5. Select your account name and enter password
6. On the Recovery Options, select Startup Repair

If that doesn't resolve the issue:
Repeat steps 1-5 above. Then select System Restore instead. Restore the system back to a date where you think it was working fine.

Lost Files From Uninstalling

The easiest way to uninstall programs is by going to Control Panel, if using XP then go to add/remove programs if using Vista then go to programs and features.

If you cannopt open photo gallery then I suggest you insert your windows CD and repair your version of windows. All of your other files will remain intact, windows will find and replace corrupt system files and replace missing files.

I hope this helps

Have you actually tried another adapter already??

It sounds like something has burned out on your mainboard. However depending on the model it may have a removable power board. You may have to find someone that can trace down the power circuitry of the system with a meter.

You mentioned this is not the original adapter- There is definitely a chance that your adapter caused this problem. I never take a chance on a higher or lower amperage AC adapter with a laptop, since it stresses the power circuitry of the machine. Even if you can get it going again, i would strongly recommend getting a closer to spec adapter.

Bios password

What you will need to do to clear a bios or power on password is 1- transfer ownership of the machine at Dell's support site
(link #1), then 2- contact Dell support by telephone for the master code (link #2). You will need the machine or configuration id, the number at the bottom of the initial white screen.
