You ran it dry at some point. Gas tanks collect crud and water at the bottom over time and this may have been sucked up into the fuel filter or carb. This sounds as though the heater is overheating. Ensure there is good airflow through the unit and dust the intake and output if necessary.

Mine do that. The sensors located at the bottom on either side of the door have to "see" each other. It is very easy to bump them out of alignment. Check that first. It is possible that they are faulty, and replacements cost about $30. You can't, and shouldn't bypass these for safety reasons.

This freezer has a refrigerant leak, and will only get worse. I am looking at the identical Kenmore model and the refrigerant is so low that a little frost forms on the capillary tube. try taking every thing out of the fridge turning it off for a day to let it defrost
