I'm guessing that you're trying to play a DVD movie. You'll need some sort of playback software for this. Normally, something is included with your computer. If not, you can get a free player here. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

First, check the boot drives to make sure that the computer is not trying to boot from a different drive to the one that contains Windows.
Check that there are no CDs or DVDs 3 1/2 inch floppy discs

Data discs won't play in a DVD player or display on a TV.

Why would you want to "watch" a word file anyway???

Probably a codec problem on the notebook. rather than a drive problem. Try a 3rd party media player such as Real Player or Quicktime

If you have IDE rather than SATA drives -

You should have your hard drive as master and 1 CD drive as slave on one IDE channel, with the other 2 CD drives on the other IDE channel, one set to master and one set to slave.

So, pull the CD drives out and check the master/slave jumpers on the back of them.

Hi Albert, for what you say, COM ERROR, corresponds to an internal communication problem, try disconnecting the TEAC, from the power outlet, wait a couple of minutes and reconnect it, the problem should be solved
This is indicated on page 26 of the User Manual
If not, you would have a more complicated problem and I suggest you consult a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem

What operating system are you using?
NOTE: A usb floppy drive will not work when plugged into a USB 3.0 socket, you need to plug it into USB 2.0 if you have one.
