either the modem is going out or its a problem with your internet provider. before calling to complain to the internet provider. run down to your local walmart or electronics store and pickup a modern if you have the same issue its your internet provider. i delt with a modem that was causing a similar issue. the problem ended up being the modem was running hot. i modified the case and added an external fan and the problem went away. hope this helps. good luck

Do you have a wi-fi password in place on your router?

Hi,

It can be an issue with the modem or with the line. When the line drops the link then the modem shows only two lights. And, when you power cycle the modem (unplug and replug it) it establish the session again with the comcast.

So, i'll suggest you to get the line checked first and if comcast finds that line is working fine then get the modem replaced.

Check to see if there's a reset button on it somewhere, and reset it, if you can. It sounds like a heat problem, since it's been getting worse and worse. Not much you can do in this case except have it repaired, or buy a new one. Get an estimate first, though, often it's better to buy a new one than pay as much or more to fix the broken one.

To access the configuration: The default user is 'Administrator' and the password is blank.

Make sure you have your DSL username and password to log into you DSL service. If you don't have it your service provider can give it to you.

If that doesn't work find the reset button on the back. Do not use the front reset. Hold the reset buttion in until the power led flashes red. This should reset the unit back to factory. You will need probably need you DSL username and password to re-configure the router.

Your modem should be on when it is plugged in - "always on". If your ethernet light is not on, there is either an issue with your modem, or with your cable internet provider. Please contact their technical support people for appropriate troubleshooting.

Hi there.
What you have to do is plug in the Ethernet hub, run the Ethernet cable (RJ45) from the modem to the "internet in" or "internet" socket on the hub, it will the one which is separated from the others.
Then connect an ethernet cable in port 1 to your first computer and a cable from port 2 to your second computer and so on.
If you experience connection problems just pull power from the modem for 30 seconds, plug it back in wait a minute and reconnect.
