I have a WD Elements

Hello, the easiest way to achieve this is reinstalling the program on the hard drive. Select advanced installation, and when it asks for a path, give your hard drive's path. if you can't reinstall it, it'll be a little bit more complicated. if it's on Windows, you'll have to go into the "Program Files" folder, find your program's folder, and copy it into a "Program Files" folder (you have to create this one). Then find the main exe file in the program's folder you copied (usually <program name>.exe, right click on it and select Send to desktop (or create a shortcut) in order to access it more easily. That's it. if you need more details, feel free to ask. Antoine Viallon

Information stored on the drive is accessible on any computer on the network. Significance b> The implications of network drive technology on computer mobility are significant. Network drive software that allows a person to connect to a network drive via the Internet is available. You may access files from home or work from any computer with an Internet connection, even if you're thousands of miles away. Run Network Repair From CMD b> The command-line interface for Microsoft Windows is accessible through the "Command Prompt" utility in the "Accessories" folder. The command prompt is particularly useful for network diagnostics and repair. For example, you can issue the "ping" command from the command prompt to test for and verify network connectivity. Fix Network Device Driver Errors b> A network device driver is a small program that enables a network device to communicate with the computer's operating system, as well as with other computers connected to a network. Errors may occur if the network device driver becomes corrupted because of viruses and other causes. You can fix errors by following the steps laid out below. Check the information that came with your network device for compatibility issues; you need to know whether it is compatible with your computer, as well as the version of Windows you are using. Check if the network device is properly attached to the computer. Click on the "Start" button then choose "All programs." Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties" from the list of options. Select "Device Manager" from the "Properties window." In the "Device Manager" window, click the plus sign (+) beside the "Network adapters." This will list all the network devices installed. The network device that has an error should also have a yellow exclamation point right beside the network device icon. Double-click on the network device icon that causes the error. On the "General" tab, click on the "Troubleshoot" button and answer the "Troubleshoot Wizard's" questions. Follow the resolution steps provided by the "Troubleshoot wizard." If Step 3 does not work, check if your hardware or network device came with a software disc. Use the disc to install the network device on your computer. Follow the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer. You can also go to the manufacturer's website to check for updates available for the device driver. If no updates are available, try manually updating the driver. Getting an updated network device driver will prevent any conflicts from arising in the future. Go back to the "Device manager" window. Double click on the device that you need to update. This should bring up a small window that has the device's properties. Click on the "Driver" tab and choose "Update Driver." Reboot your computer, if necessary. If the network device still shows an error, Go back to the device manager, right-click on the device that shows an error and select "Uninstall." Restart your computer and open the "Device Manager" again as soon as the machine is back up. Right-click on the device and then choose "Scan for hardware changes." If the device continues to malfunction, the hardware or device may already be corrupted. Consider getting professional assistance from from a computer technician. Hope this helps. b>

The USB HDD driver is built in on XP. If the drive is not recognized try the following;
  1. If you usually plug it into the front USB, Try the rear USB
  2. Try a flash drive in the same USB and see if it works
  3. Plug the HDD into the USB then look in Device Manager for it, Right Click and click Update Driver then select Windows Update for the location.

My Hard drive dosen't work again the system could not recognize it.

Good Day.
Don't know if your external hard drive has power led on it, that comes on when connected to the PC. If it has these led, does it come on when connected to the PC? If no, then I believe there's is problem in the connection within the external Hard disk. So maybe you buy a new cord or you just have to change the connection panel or buy a hard disk casing that has the panel for connection in it.

Or, if the led give light, do you feel any movement (or rolling) within the external hard disk when connected? If yes then it's still working, just try the first recommendation.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa!

You should not even try to install an operating system on an external drive. Windows looks at the "C" drive and installs programs to "C" drive. You are trying to put it on the "G" drive. You will have too many problems and wish you never had tried. Buy a larger main drive and partition it with two equal partitions. Then "Dual Boot". You will find how to do this on the internet. Just Google "Dual Booting".
