Your numlck is enabled, Press the Fn Key abd the F11(Numlk), to disable the numlck on your keyboard.

I presume you mean a battery which looks like a disk. The place where it goes has usually a sort of button below. The writing goes on top. if the 2 batteries go on top of each other, both writing are on top.

look on line for a phono cartridge, replace the old one. wires are standard and color coded.

if its a cathode ray display its got vertical scan problems then its the line timebase more than likely a resistor gone high value or a leaky capacitor take the board out and have a good look for burnt out resistors and printed circuit damage change any electrolytic capacitors

Disconnect the batteries and see if they're shorted out
(continuity or resistance range on a multimeter).
Otherwise replacing the batteries will make it work
once again.

This problem comes up when you are using the monitor at a slightly higher resolution or refresh rate setting that the monitor can handle. Try to lower down both of the settings (start - settings - control panel - screen - settings) and check the results. In case the picture looks better, increase STEP BY STEP resolution and refresh rate (one at a time) in order to get the best result. Keep in mind that if a setting is out of range that the monitor can handle the screen will be black. AT THIS CASE DON"T DO ANYTHING, after 15 seconds the screen will come back at the previous setting. Sorry your monitor it too old and I can't find the official settings for resolution and refresh rate. However the official settings are not guarantee that are still working since the monitor has too many hours "on duty".
