Freezer thermostat
Hello FrankRemember that on older fridge and freezer units as well as many low-tech or older units you will find that they operate by way of a pretty simple device that is known as a thermostat. This is much like most thermostats in that it will generally, in any refrigerator or freezer at least, offer only two operating positions as it is, in effect, a simple mains switch, on and off.Best RegardsNeciforo Llanto

Subzero Model 424 Service Light ON - Codes: 10EC, 15EC, 73UE, 73LE, 73UP, 73LO. No codes are EE.
an "EE" code means you have an open thermistor. "EC" is a extended compressor run code. typically with the 424 if the thermistors are good, as in no "EE" codes you probably have a refrigerant leak. 73UE is the temperature at the upper evaporator thermistor. 73LE is the temp at the lower evaporator thermistor, 73up is the upper compartment temp and 73lo is the lower compartment temp. the unit probably has a leak in the evaporator/heat exchanger assemblies and needs a refrigeraton system rebuild

Should I unplug my sub-zero refrigerator/freezer when we are experiencing low voltage such as a brownout.
usualy you shoukld unplug the refrigerator or any motor based instrument when there is low voltage as if the electric voltage is not enough to push the motor to run normaly the electrical back force genarated by the motor when turning will be low and the current passing through the motor will be higher with this low voltage causing the motor to in certain case to be burned.however any cooling machine has an overtemp protection on the body of the motor wich stops the motor from runing when it is overheated but it will reconect it when the body temp goes down so several attempt like this may finally lead to burn the motor

Ow do you test a run capacitor
you need a multimeter that reads uf or microfarads, there will be a rating on the capacitor. when you test it it should be between + or - 10% ,if not replace it.
