Directv HR10-250 DTV Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Even Transponderds Zero
Typically that indicates a bad LNB or connection to the LNB. Try moving the line to one of the other three ports on the LNB and if that doesn't work then you will need to replace it
Power Issue?
unplug the satellite cables and restart the dvr. if the dvr powers up plug in the cables when u see searching for satellite.

Off-air antenna volume issues
Make sure you have the correct audio settings set on the HR10. Go to messages and setup, settings, audio and play with the different settings and see if you can't get any audio to come on.
If you are able to get a dolby 5.1 audio signal through your receiver on another hd channel, then you should be getting and audio signal on your locals.
If you aren't able to get any dd 5.1 audio on hd channels, then I'd suggest (if you can) bypass the receiver and go directly to your tv (if it has speakers).
Problems with subtly changing colors
What connection are you using, HDMI or component?
Also, on what source is the problem happening, through sat or through off air antenna?
If you're on HDMI I'd try component. Then, playback the affected video and see if it's reproduced w/ component.
If it's on ota only, you may have a loose tuner cable inside. It's easy to fix, you need a torx t-10 screwdriver. Unplug the unit, take the 5 torx screws off of the back cover, and on the right side you'll see 2 cables running from tuners in the front to a splitter that connects to the tuner for ota on the back right. Just make sure the connections are tight with your hands only, don't over tighten them. Also, make sure you don't touch the power supply when you have the unit open!
Operating Tempature error
This indicates either the teperature sensor has gone bad or one of the components has developed what is called a hot spot and is shutting down because of that. Now if you own this deveice, not rent, but own it you could open it up and using freeze spray, hit each of the microprocessors and see which one eliminates the problem and either reapply heat sink paste or make sure proper contact with the heat sink is possible.
Blank screen on HDMI connection
I have good new and bad news
The good news first:
believe it or not you have solved the problem and the HDMI port on you TV is not working.
Now for the bad news:
What ever damaged the HDMI port on your TV also damaged the DVR UNIT, and it looks like it could be in the switching section. What that is is the point where viedo is delivered to the various ports by the DVR Unit, I should call it more of a crossover point, since the signal is processed differently by the various output ports. I would suggest that you get the HGMI port in yoyr TV repaired and the DVR repaired at a qualified shop. There are no repairs that you can affect on these devices.
Reciever Not Recording
Turn off the receiver, unplug the receiver, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, and go through the setup again. This hard restart clears the memory and restarts the DVR software(clears any software glitches) This should fix this problem assuming that your satellite signal is good. Check that during the resetup. Most transponders will show between 70 to 100 signal strength. (Minimum is 70 for error free reception) Several transponders will show 0 as they are dead on the satellite, and not a receiver problem) If your satellite signal is in the 70's or less, you either live in Maine or you may need to realign the dish or something is blocking the signal like a tree or bush growing that is partially blocking the signal causing the signal to drop out(partial recordings)
