yes as long they are the same voltage/size but its a bit better to use ordinary alkaline batteries rechargable batteries are better used in higher load situation like toys or such

Probably failing PSU capacitors on a model of this age. Fixable if you, or someone you know can solder.

Your best option is probably a factory reset. This will not affect recordings, but you will need to reset your timers, so make a note of them first.

Have you tried pointing the remote at a digital camera? This will show the infra-red signal coming from the remote. If the remote is OK, it may have been set to an alternative mode. See: https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/using-more-than-1-humax-box-in-the-same-room.24/

As it is so new, your best option is a replacement from Humax. This is assuming that you are sure that the signal to the unit is OK.

Presumably this is a few years old, so I suspect failing capacitors on the mainboard. I have fixed several of these with this sort of fault.

Are you sure that the dish hasn't moved, or that there is something impeding the signal to it? Sometimes leafs on trees can be the cause of a drop in signal strength.

When it was first set up, it asked for a postcode. This is used to set the region. I suspect that you bought this used or as a refurb, so it was set to the London area. I suggest a factory reset (your recordings will not be affected) so that you can set it to your postcode.
