Do you mean playback on the camcorder, or playback via a TV or PC ? If on the camcorder, there may be a menu setting for this - check the manual. If TV or PC, use the volume control on that.Alternatively, there may be a menu setting to permit you to record at a higher volume. cassettes have a small tab in the back corners and if the lid will not close then it is possible that the tabs are in tact or have been removed it could be a reason the other thing is the cassette itself the right unit for the machine

The Canon XM2 is a European PAL camera so if you're in the U.S. this is going to cause issues for you. The XL2 would be my choice based on previous experience, though.

You will have to take the camera apart and get to the back side of the connector. Most likely it is directly mounted to a circuit board. I am sure it is the board that is bad and not the connector itself. There should be a replacement number on the board itself.

It is a known problem that caused by the defective CCD sensor and must be replaced.
