Always use a HDD rated for continuous use such as the WD purple range. Do NOT use a standard PC HDD as these are designed to keep switching themselves off and back on when accessed and are not rated for continuous. The manual says max 500Gb but I have used 1tb drives with no problem. As they are SATA I would have thought there should be no issue with up to 2Tb but the may be issues above this according to the filing system used. Best thing would be to get any old larger drive you could borrow to try if you really want to go large. With 5 internal drives I would have thought 1Tb drives would be enough. In personal experience I have had more failures with Seagate/Samsung drives than with anyone else's and the most reliable (no failures to date) have been HGST.

try to find reset button on the main board of the device or remove the battery on the same board

try to find reset switch on the main board of the device if not try to remove the battery on the main board

With everything powered up try unplugging the camera (at the camera) and plugging it back in. You should also take a meter to the camera end and find out if you have the proper voltage.

sound like the bulb has blown. best bet is to just buy a new monitor. it would cost you the same.

Easy fix...because you are using VGA screen ...you need to push pretty fast on your remote the following ( do this twice) fast....push. Freeze. View. Return. That should fix it. If twice oes not fix it keep doing it...it will work. Good luck.

I see, if you hook that 8th camera to a different location on the device, does it do the same? It may be a problem with that camera that occurred when power was lost, that is what it sounds like. Test it by plugging it in 7th for example...

did you try connecting your CPU to another monitor?because some monitor requires signal form the CPU in order to the plyback to oscillate or switch.maybe you should try this one first.After connecting CPU to other monitor and the monitor dont show picture then the problem is on the CPU you need to fix the CPU and i can also help you to fix that.If the problem is on the monitor itself i can also give you an idea how to repair that .however we need to find first from where the problem is coming.do some cheking first and post a comment after so i can give you a solution to the problem tnx and good luck!

Win XP has nothing to do with it.
As you said you have a fixed ip for the router. Now you need to map the incoming requiest to the local ip address of the dvr. It is called Virtual server.

It would be pvc0/1 mapped to TCP/IP port 80 of the local ip address of the dvr.

Check to see which input you have selected for the monitor. It will only show you the data from the cameras if the monitor is set up to take input from the digital recorder.

Just click on the input button on the remote for the monitor and go from choice to choice until you see the images from the camera.

You have to hook it up to a tv monitor and change the settings through the menu. It will originally include a password just to get you on, then you will immediately have to change it. After you do that you can access the menu where you can change the output settings
