To check the MAC address of the machine, use the up or down arrow buttons to display Setup on the HOME screen and press the right FUNCTION button,
then go to Device Settings > LAN Settings > Confirm LAN settings > WLAN setting list to see your MAC address details. YOu should see a screen that looks something like this:

I had the same problem. Here's what I did to fix it:Unplugged the printer 2x. On the first try I just plugged it back in and still had the problem. The second time I took all of the ink tanks out, unplugged it (with the power still on, don't know if this makes a difference, but that's how I did it) then plugged it back in. The printer said that it couldn't detect any ink. I reinstalled all ink tanks, and a message said that it had been shut down improperly. Press ok to continue. I test printed a picture with a lot of blue in it and the picture came out true to the exact color of the picture. That's what worked for me. I hope it works for anyone else with the same problem. (Sorry for posting this twice. I missed the solutions link at first)

I think you need to do is reinstall you software driver for the print program and start with known parameters. Then you can try to clean the heads. You should get something out of the printer if the heads are plugged it might be a dot or smear on the paper.

Turn off your security software and firewall if you have one and install the software. Once you have reinstalled your software be sure to turn on you security software and firewall again. Be sure to check the printer software and be sure it will run with your present version of your computer. It should if it ran before.

If you are connecting it via a usb port. Go to Device manager, open up Universal Serial Bus Controllers and delete all controllers in there, then make sure you plug your printer in and reboot the laptop.

vicky, these are individual cartridges that snap in.cli226 and pgi225 correct? if so you should be able to release them somehow. maye a small screwdriver. these are the cartridges numbers you tried to install? if not let us know.

I want to say it stems from whatever program you are using the print. My guess would be your margins are set two inches from the top. If that's what it is it is easily correctable. You just have to check your margins and access the number back to one you want to use. Otherwise it could be your nozzle alignment which you may want to run some maintenance and try to fix the nozzle alignment.

What program are you trying to print from? Maybe as simple as changing the paper sizes

Not enough information to answer this, the additional required is "is it out of the other colours' ink?" but assuming this is not the case, did it drop one colour at a time? Do you use the printer a lot? Normal way for this to happen, other than running out of ink, is for you to have not used it for a while and the ink dries on the pad. I have revived printers by carefully cleaning the contact pad and ink cartridge with alcohol.
