I hav a 20 gb samsung hard disk, which the

the best method is to remove it and install it on a different PC...ensure that if it's a IDE drive(the white / grey data cable inside will be about 3 inch wide) then install it only in a similar machine....if it SATA(the red data cable inside will be 1 inch wide ) then use in that type of machine...recover all data....to that machine...use a 24gb USB pen drive to trf all data to you machine....
format the 20 gb HD and try to install it in the old PC
guess this solution will work...

Hi, I dont think you need drivers for this, if connections are all ok, and its powered up and spinning up, it should show up as an external hard drive on your computer as, C: D: E:, or whatever. Do not just unplug it to remove it, click on "removing external drives" first. Hope this helps.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps don

I m hving problem in

Any 20GB disk-drive is probably _MANY_ years old, definitely "out-of-warranty".

Keep trying to restart your computer, hoping that it will be detected at least once, so that you can do a "final" copy of its files onto your "primary" disk-drive (or write to a few DVD-recordable disks).

Not show drive on my

Hi,
Check if you hard drive is listed in Device Manager (System properties->Hardware->Device..) at Disk drives section (press + to list drives). If you can see 2 hard drives (I suppose the Quantum is the 2nd hdd in your pc) then maybe you should create a partition on it and format the new partition (you can do that from Disk Management section of Computer Management (Control panel ->Administrative tools -> Computer Management). If your hard drive is not listed in Device manager then it's not correctly connected or it's damaged (or, as I remember in a few cases this model was not compatible with some types of mainboards).

If this is the solution for your problem, please rate my post, otherwise give us more details.

Regards,
Andras

The "clicking" is the sond of bad read/write heads. The HDD is dead. If there are important files and pics you can send it here http://datacent.com/index.php and they may be able to retrieve the data. Good luck

I need to download the installation disk for the lct15 20gb hdd

Check the bios if the hard drive is detected. if not configure the necessary jumper settings. if not detected, you have a defective hard drive.

if detected:

Try to fdisk it to repair the partition. reformat and install again.

Hope that helps.

XP NOT RECOGNIZING BOTH Hd

Hi, considering that the 20G hdd was manufactured years back, it is possible that they are really at the end of their life. Being detected in the bios does not necessarily mean that everything is ok with the drive(s). You may want to try a third party partitioning/formatting software such as partition magic which however would need a second pc that is fully operational and install the fireballs either as secondary or slave. Another way is to download a diagnostic software from quantum dgdsk250.exe, install in a diskette and boot your on that diskette with your fireballs installed. it will perform factory std check-up and give you info re status of hdds. Hope this be of some help. Pls post again how things turn up
