I have an lms-530c it keeps

Your GPS module is not receiving power (12volts). In the instuctions should be an additional red sheet of paper explaining how to wire it correctly. If the wiring is done right, check the 3 amp fuse.

I have a lowrance 3600c

If your GPS was sending NMEA data and now is not, your NMEA configuration may have been inadvertently changed, either due to a user error, or possibly a software glitch.

You can configure the unit to use specific NMEA sentences.
1. Press MENU|MENU| then scroll down to SYSTEM SETUP and press |ENT.
2. Scroll down to COMMUNICATIONS PORT, then press ENT then scroll down to CONFIGURE NMEA and press ENT.
3. A menu appears showing the prefixes of the available NMEA sentences.
A check mark next to a prefix means the prefix is in use. Use the arrow keys (on the track pad) like a mouse to select a prefix, then press ENT to turn off the prefix. (Press
ENT again to check the box and turn a prefix on.)
I'm not exactly sure how the data is labeled on that model but you looking for a sentence that looks like an abbreviation for GPS Lat Lon (it may be something like GPLL). If you're not sure, turn them all on, the VHF will only use the sentences it recognizes.
4. When the desired prefixes are checked or unchecked, press
EXIT|EXIT|EXIT|EXIT to return to the previous page.

let me know if this worked for you, or if I may be of further assistance.

The problem is most likely in the antenna.

Have you installed a RADAR? The GPS will not acquie a saellite unless it is above or below the bea emitted from the RADAR.

The easiest thing to check is corrosion on the plug where it attaches to GPS.

Look at tour satellite status page. Is WAAS turned on or off? If it is on try turning it off and see if that makes a difference. If the GPS acquires with WAAS turned off, you probably need a software update.

Next follow the antenna wire to the antenna and look for any signs of damage, particularly where any new accessories have been installed. It is also a common point of failure if the cable is stressed near where it enters the antenna.

You may be able to convince your friendly local marine retailer such as West, Cabala, or Boater's World to let you buy an antenna for test purposes and then return it when you are done. You don't have to snake wires all over the boat, simply place the antenna somewhere where it has a clear view of the sky and plug it in.

If the antenna is not the culprit your next step would be to check your software version which appears when you start up the display. If it is not version 2.3.0, get a blank MMC card and download a software update from Lowrance at this link:
SOFTWARE VERSION 2.3.0

It should include intructions on how to install the update.

If that fails, your only option left is to box up the display and antenna and send it out for service.

How do you get the

It depends on what model you have. Most chartplotters require a chip with regional chart data. Most Lowrance models use Navionics charts. If you have a chip in the GPS, go to the map screen and press the "menu" key. Somewhere in the map setup menu will be a field where you can specify which chart to display.

For example a Navionics gold chart may cover the entire east coast, but it is broken down into a few sub regions. If you are boating in New England you would select the sub region labeled Northeast. Some of the earlier models didn't name the regions, they used model number for each region such as "XL904G". In that case your best bet is to try each one until you can view the charts in your area. Zoom in to 1/2 mile scale to make sure you can see charts.

If you have done all that and still can't see the chart details, there is also a setting in the map setup menu that allows you to set the level of detail. Make sure it is set to normal, more, or most. If you see a declutter setting on the setup menu, try setting it to off.

I have a Lowrance LMS

Are saying you can't read the screen at night, or is it hard to read the screen anytime?

If you tap the power key, you should here a beep and the screen should get brighter. If you hear the beep and there is no light, then the internal light has failed.

If you can't read the screen in normal light conditions try viewing it under a bright light at various angles. You may notice that the screen is just barely visible. If this is the case you may be able to fix the problem by adjusting the contrast. Try tapping bthe power key and then tap the right or left side of the track pad. It may take several taps to see the results. If left or right doesn't work, try up or down.

I have deleted the English keyboard from my Nuvi

Connect your unit up to the PC and run Garmin's webupdater program. It will scan your unit and tell you what updates are available and if you deleted a file, it will allow you to re-download it. You can find the program here: http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27
