Unfortunately, you are probably dealing with a copy protection issue. The digital handshake can't be returned by your KLV3913. You get the same issue if you connect a HDMI source (Blu-ray player) to a VGA monitor. I wish that I had better news for you. Cindy Wells

Jim, First thing I would do is try a different DVD to see if the problem persists. Otherwise, this device is equipped with integrated speakers, meaning it is unlikely that you will be able to replace them. first, make sure the TV in in American Cable mode (ntsc). next do this, menu... tuner... cable... scan... the reason maybe the TV is on TV air mode; but now is receiving cable. from the antenna coax cable. . another reason is that many cableco's now use Switched Digital Video ( a more robust setup) that now requires the Digital Tuning Adapter... also to help prevent free-loading. a last possibility is your (old) TV does Not work on the new cable. There are "universal" remotes available that can be programed to different electronic equipment. Just make sure that your model and brand is listed with the codes.

I I had a similar problem. What worked for me, was resetting the player. By pressing the picture button on the player itself three or four times I got to the reset option. Press play when it says press ok to reset. My remote automatically started working at that point. Hope this works for you

There is a decoding chip for surround sound. If it goes bad all you get is stereo. Happened to me with my Pioneer receiver.

The read laser is either really dirty or bad. Try running a DVD cleaner CD in it.
