I bought a xdvd700 off of Craigslist and it did

The only wires that must be connected to power up are Red(Ignition) Yellow (memory) and Black (Ground) The red and yellow can be ran directly off of the battery for testing purposes. It's not uncommon to have an extra wire or two when wiring a stereo.
Good Luck - Hope you got a stereo that works.

I have the xdvd710 when

The dual XDDVD710 RADIO has a volume memmory (it seems), it will go to the last volume setting that it was set to, not play to,(supposly to keep it from blasting you when you turn it on and you forgat u had the volume on blast).
To set it,
1 turn radio on,
2 turn the volume to desire Level you whant it to go when you turn it on (other Levels besside BLAST hopefully) ,
3 push the volume button in, that should do it.
Now you can play your music loud and should you forget that you had it on BLAST (to over come road noise) when you last played your radio, it should start at the preset volume.

E- brake by-pass code

This is the best bypass method for the Dual XDVD8181. Althoug i am not sure if it works for any of the similar models b Dual. My guess it will.

1) Groun the emergency brake wire.I used the radios black groud wire.

2) Insert a DVD and let it play until you hear the sound.Copied DVDS will not work for this.

3) Press STOP on the remote TWICE.

4) Using the remote enter 26604 and press enter .If done correctly you should hear it beep and the video will be viewable.Good Luck.

Turns on but nothing displays.

it sound like the memory wire is hook up wrong, check the yellow wire first then the red wire if still the same problem, connect the red and the yellow wire together to see if it come on it should come on you might have to run a hot wire from the battery in the dash then hook the yellow wire to it so your memory stays on

Subwoofers?

You can customize your subwoofers to fit anywhere in a vehicle but the science to getting your subwoofers to do its job is in the box. If you are trying to save space, theres plenty of boxes customized to get that science in your car and save you space. Or rid the idea of having a box and installing some updated 6x9's that'll do the job for ya at saving space and giving you the bass effect you want to hear as well..

good luck!

When upgrading an existing single tone car horn to a dual tone how complicated is the extra wiring?

No Simon, that won't work. What you are suggesting is wiring the two horns in series, and that halves the voltage so you would have two horns running on 6 volts. They need to be wired in parallel. A lot depends on how good the horn's relay is and if it can handle the load of two horns. My thought is that it probably will as many vehicles already have twin horns. The positive lead from the relay needs to split and go to the positive sides of both horn, and the negative of the horns to grounds. Ideally, two relays, two horns, two grounds. Look at the YouTube video of the guy that added a huge locomotive twin air horn. It is funny as he goes looking for jay walkers! If I remember he had to install a second battery for it as the load for the air compressor, made the engine stall. ..
