I guess its may be because your at location wherein sat signals are week or other case could be when person relocate to other countries and if sat nav was bought from previous countries wherein its meant for to use then this happens (i personally experiencing this) . Sometimes magnetic environment factors can cause disruption in signals.

Sounds like it is not getting a clear path to the sky. Try putting it in a different location in the windshield. had this problem with one couple where the wife wanted to hold it in her lap and give her husband directions. This doesn't work it has to be in windshield with clear view of sky. If that doesn't work try a reset. Another problem could be interference from something jamming/ blocking signal like Bluetooth radio try turning every thing off in car and see if you can get a signal also get away from all buildings .
