On most DVD audio -video out to TV audio video in is preferred,To have a better viewing than a RF connection.May need an RF MODULATORS-CONVERT VIDEO TO AERIAL (COAXIAL)RF Unit or modulator if the said audio-video is not possible.

Theres a problem in power supply.Maybe theres a leak capacitor or transistor.Please check the parts in the power supply and try to replace leaked parts.

on front of tv should be a ^ & down button

it is unclear what you are trying to say, other than that you are trying to change input from cable to video? there should be either an tv input button on controller or on tv itself,. if you are using a universal remote, make sure it is programed for all devices per switch/button on universal controller. try www.manualsonline.com with make and model of controller.

If you have the manual (which im assuming you do) there should be instructions on hwo to perform a factory reset on the television. This will also reset the password.

I didn't see anything about it on GEs website or RCAs website in case they were supporting them.
