Recording instructions
First, whether or not you can do this will depend on cable box useage, and how the VCR is hooked up. In the earlier days of cable TV, & off-air reception, this was a simple task.
If you have a satellite receiver box or cable box which is used to tune the channel, rather than using the TV itself or the VCR tuner, then recording one channel while watching another may not be possible. While I don't know the capabilities of newer sat/cable boxes, older ones sent just one signal out to the external equipment (TV etc.) That one signal (channel) is all that is available. If you received a manual with the sat/cable box, see if it says anything about this issue.
That being said- if you don't use a sat/cable box, but instead use your TV or VCR to select the channel you are watching, then assuming the VCR is hooked up inline with the TV, just setting the VCR/TV option to TV will pass all channels through to the TV, and you can then use the TV to select whatever channel wished, while the VCR is recording something else.
Hopefully I haven't confused you. If another contributor has some additional info on the capabilities of sat/cable boxes of today, please read their contribution.
Sudden eject of the tape
Hi,
This sounds like a mechanical problem. The tape is not fully extended over the video head or the two arms spreading the tape over the path is not fully extending. This is normally caused by a small belt slipping. The belt couples a small motor (near the right side of the head) and a pulley/gear combo that drives the spreading arm along its path taking the tape with it.
It's a tight squeeze but if you can manage to extract the belt and replace it, then this should do the trick.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things are or should you need additional information.
good luck and kind regards.
Program GE VCR
By chance is there a menu option for resetting the timed record previously entered?
you might also do a google search using your model number. There are suppliers out there specializing in original remote boxes.
Picture Problems
this is a tracking problem...try cleaning the entire tape path with alcohol swabs (open top cover), especially the pinch roller
Trying to find model number on my GE universal remote so that I can get codes for my converter box
Locating the model number on a GE universal remote can vary depending on the specific model. Here are some general tips to help you find the model number:
- Check the Battery Compartment:
- Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote.
- Look for a sticker or label inside the compartment that may contain the model number.
- On the Remote's Front or Back:
- Check the front and back of the remote for any labels or markings that might indicate the model number.
- User Manual or Packaging:
- If you have the user manual or the original packaging, check there. The model number is often mentioned on these documents.
- Behind the Battery Cover:
- Remove the battery cover and inspect the area behind it for any labels or markings that include the model number.
- On the Remote's Body:
- Inspect the body of the remote itself. Some models may have the model number printed on the front or sides.
Once you locate the model number, you can then proceed to find the correct codes for your converter box. The codes are usually included in the remote's manual or can be found on the manufacturer's website. If you are unable to find the model number or the manual, you may need to contact GE customer support for assistance.
If you provide more details about your GE universal remote, I might be able to offer more specific guidance.

Need codes FOR GE UNIVERSAL RC 24914-D TO CONNECT MY roku express
Yes, you can use a GE Universal Remote RC24914-D to set up your Roku Express box. To do this, you'll need to find the correct code for your Roku Express device and program it into the remote. Here's how:
- Turn on your Roku Express device.
- Locate the "Code Search" button on your GE Universal Remote. This button is usually labeled "Code Search" or "Setup."
- Press and hold the "Code Search" button until the indicator light turns on.
- Enter the code 9-9-1. The indicator light will blink twice.
- Point the remote at your Roku Express device and press the "Power" button. If the device turns off, you have found the correct code. If it does not turn off, repeat steps 3 to 5 with a different code until you find the correct one.
- Once you have found the correct code, press the "Code Search" button again to save the code.
The codes for the GE Universal Remote RC24914-D can vary depending on the version, so it's possible that the code 9-9-1 may not work for your device. If that's the case, you can try other codes listed in the remote manual or on the GE website.
I hope this helps you set up your Roku Express device using your GE Universal Remote.
