Try this solution: Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, etc. from MP3 Player
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You

It says the thing is write-protected when the hold button is turned on. Switch it to "off" and try again.

Here's how you get it
you may have to open Windows Media Player but maybe not
a screen will come saying for you to choose either NO leave all the media on the device... or YES delete all media.
click YES but MAKE SURE you have the HOLD button on OFF. if you dont... it will not work
after it completes the task click FINISH

i tried for hours trying to figure it out and that made it work like a charm! =]

gpx mw3837 finally got the music on it but only lets me fast forward through a song not skip to the next. What if i want to listen to one of the songs added to the player at the end of the list. I would have to hold down the fast forward button forever. Any one with a solution?

Try turning off the hold button. It will lock up the player and nothing will happen.

If you have the manual in digital form, please post it on this site. Search the manual for a way to reset the device, if you can't find it try disconnecting it from any power source(AC, batteries, etc) for a few days. On showing Hidden files/folders: from windows explorer, while inside the GPX external drive- click on tools>folder options>view>hidden files and folders Good luck

Unfortunately the GPX M2104 manual is not available online(due to large size...), so all I can help with is some advice that might seem like the obvious, or some referals- 1. Make sure the HOLD is in off position. Slide the HOLD switch to the opposite side of the word HOLD. Then connect the player back and try to transfer/add/delete the songs you want. 2. If you have a digital form of the manual(please submit it here) search for "write protect" on it(shift+control+f on adobe), or look in the troubleshooting section which is generaly towards the end of the manual. 3. Try resetting the device. If you don't know how, again - it should be on the manual, and if it isn't then unplugging it and disconnecting it from all power sources for a few days sometimes does the trick. you can also try doing it on another PC, or another OS just to make sure it really is the GPX malfunctioning. Good luck

Many online music stores employ DRM to restrict usage of music purchased and downloaded online. The best way to overcome this is to download DRM- free tracks. Some online music stores such as amazon, eMusic and Beatport give you DRM free tracks. Try getting your music from them. Or else you can rip the Cds to get the tracks.
hope this solves your problem.

Sometimes there's a small pinhole in the face of the door panel. If so, straighten a paper clip and press straight into the hole. That will press lever that pushes the slide outward. If no pinhole, try a case knife (table knife). Shove between the door panel and the casing, and try to pry it panel outward.

Once, not too long ago a friend lost a CD. They were sure they put it into the player on the laptop. When removing the CD player, I found the CD laying atop the player casing, so either they shoved it in the crease between the player and the laptop casing, or it popped up as they were closing the door ind it was shoved int hat crease.

Good luck.
