Oven door suddenly gave way no tension any more

Breville BOV845. I managed to partially detach the outer shell on the left side only. Found "the" loose spring inside with both ends snapped off & gone. Could see where spring attaches to a hole in the end of the door's left side "arm" but could not see where the other end of the spring would attach to inside the body. Had I seen an obvious location, I would've rebent the ends of the spring & fixed it. Or matched up spring at Hrdwre store & replaced it. Online schematics are blurry & inconclusive. Almost all parts are NLA, obsolete.

Tension spring on door

I found the answer (see below) posted on another web site. I followed the instructions and replaced the spring. I found, as the original poster had, that the new spring works better than the original and is much more sturdy. To the original instructions, I would add the following: 1) There are about 20 screws so have patience removing and replacing the screws. 2) Step 3, "Slide off the rear panel" requires further clarification as the panel will not slide off even with all screws removed. I had to turn the oven over, with the top of the oven sitting on the work table. I then used a screw driver to lift the two tabs that hold the back panel to the bottom panel. With the tabs lifted, the back panel will rotate away from the oven along the edge where back panel slides into the top panel. The back panel can then be slid out. I have included three photos that show this step. 3) Step 7, "Re-attach feet": Be sure to use the guides on the bottom of the oven to slide the foot assembly onto the oven. I had unsuccessfully tried to screw the feet onto the oven without using the guides. Oringinal instructions for replacing the broken spring: Just repaired this yesterday. Got a spring from Lowes (Hillman Part # 543028 for about $4), it's larger than the original but seems much sturdier, original is really thin metal. Fit the space provided without problem. Oddly, end result was a more 'giving' spring action, prefer it to original, which loved to snap shut unless door was 100% opened (ie fully 90 degree open). This is for BOV800XL: 1. Remove all rear screws 2. Remove feet entirely 3. Slide off rear panel 4. I was not able to remove top housing - but I was able to gently pry sides open just enough to thread the new spring with a little ingenuity and effort. Watch out for sharp metal edges everywhere. 5. Slide back in (remember that top edge goes under the top edge/lip) 6. Put all screws back in 7. Re-attach feet Good luck! 7a505b80-f785-4973-b674-12594d9dcb1d.jpg 2e67ee3d-99c9-4e88-8b9f-8d1721e5caa6.jpg 529808f4-8d72-4aea-8286-b525347addee.jpg

No Heat; Controls, LED work fine

I have the same toaster oven and it developed the same problem. There is a thermal fuse with a 172C trip point. I replaced it with a new part and it worked fine for another week. I replaced it again with a fuse with a 192C trip point and that's been working for a couple of months now. Some pointers for replacing the fuse. 1) you need a Philips screwdriver with an 11" (30cm) shaft to get at the screws behind the control panel. 2) you only need to take off the feet and open the right side (looking at the toaster from the front). 3) The thermal fuse is in a white flexible plastic tube, held in place with a metal bracket. 4) You can pull the old fuse from the wire clamp using 2 pairs of plyers. I re-used the same clamps to connect the new fuse to the existing wires. 5) Replacement fuses can be found on EBAY for about $1.50 (includes shipping from Hong Kong)

What part needs to be replaced when the lcd and controls work but no heat?

Most likely suspects in this scenario would be the heating element or the temperature sensing rod. Not sure what the sensing rod setup on this oven looks like, but it is generally a few inches long, similar diameter to a charging cable for your phone, attached to the back wall of the oven and sticking out directly toward the oven door. If it goes bad, the oven may think it has reached the set temperature and turn off, but generally, it is the opposite (it allows the oven to get too hot). My guess is heating element, but the sensor generally costs a lot less to replace, though maybe not with a small toaster oven. Good luck!

I have a Brevelle 800 toaster oven that starts, but does not heat up. What part needs replacing?

There is a thermal fuse that breaks power to the heating elements if it gets too hot (somewhere around 173 C. I replaced mine with an identically rated fuse and it was good for a week until I tried to cook twice in succession. I then replaced the fuse with one that trips at around 190C and it's been good for 4 months now. The fuse costs about $6 on ebay (shipping included) and takes about an hour to replace.

The door would not close properly

www.brevilleusa.com/the-smart-oven-r.html Website includes support. The door problem is most likely mechanical in nature and possibly could be found by simple disassemble, by anyone mechanically inclined. .

Breville bov800xl wont turn on. Reset option?.

If the screen turns on and looks like it's working but there is no heat, then the problem is the thermal fuse. It takes reassembly and a $5 replacement fuse. I replaced mine with one of the same specifications and it lasted a month. I replaced it again with one that trips at a 10 degrees higher setting and it's been good for a couple of years now.

Breville beeping too loud

The beeping sound is annoying and mostly unnecessary. Unfortunately it can't be turned off. The only way to "fix it" would be to remove or disable the Piezo buzzer. I tried doing this, but disassembling the oven to reach the pcb control board ,where the buzzer is located, is complicated. You can take the top cover off using a Philips screw drive. But reaching the pcb board is tedious. So I gave uP and reassemble it. If someone has a better idea or method , please share. This is a great oven except for the annoying beeping. Even my dogs are afraid because it is the same sound that my invisible fence has and they think that they are being warned.

My Breville BOV800XL doesn't have any power.

My BOV800XL did the same thing. Of the three parts you mention the thermal fuse is by far the easiest to test and in my opinion the most likely to go out first. Check it with a meter. If you have trouble locating it read the FixYa solution for "The Breville BOV650XL will not power on." Check it for continuity like you would any fuse.I found replacement parts at ereplacementparts.com. The thermal fuse assembly was $23 when I checked. Or you could just replace the actual fuse portion of the assembly with a comporable fuse such as http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/NTE8213. Basically you need a 216*C thermal fuse. These can be had for less than $2 plus shipping. Buy a few just in case.I just ordered my fuses today so I can't report on the success of my repair, but I am confident the new fuse will solve the problem.

The lcd screen on my breville toaster oven no

Hello there, the problem with your lcd screed is back-light. The back-light is the component which allows the lcd to come on. Usually replacing this is considerably simple once you have the required expertise. The LCD is usually lit up by led bulbs which are attached to the panel of the lcd on your unit. What you have to do is get replacement bulbs open up the unit un-solder the old bulbs and replace them. But if you dont have prior electrical experience please get an expert to do this as the unit does not have user servicable parts inside.
Hope this support has been helpful?
