Hi nicholelawre,
The fault came from a dirty tack switch(channel button) in the front panel. You may spray some contact cleaner to clean the contact from dirt that causing the resistance and automatically detect by the system which caused of the symptom. If the steps didn't help, the switch need to replaced with new one.

you may have a bad volume down switch.

You might not be able to fix this problem. But first, here is a sugestion you can try. Remove the faceplate and inspect the metal contacts on both the deck and the faceplate. Each contact operates a different function of the radio such as providing power to illuminate the faceplate. Make sure no contacts have been broken, pushed in, or have corrosion. Once they all look good, replace the faceplate and see if it lights up. If not, its an internal problem with the unit and should be professionally repaired or replaced.

Your reader could be damaged. The reader is the small infared light that is under the CD in the unit. I bet my bottom dollar, it takes about 5 secs before error appears. You may have to go to your local radio expert and ask them if they can repair your reader. he will tell you if it is economically viable to do this, or better to replace whole unit. If still under warranty, take it back.

after pressing the display button, and the clock starts to flash, press the up-down (volume arrows) for the hour and the side arrows for the minutes.

try get a original cds if it works fine.the next time you burn cd try burn at 8x or low may be your cd lens is not detecting cds burnt at high speed.hope this helps..

What is your power wired into? Are your head lights dim also? You may have a battery issue?

1. Press DISP for approx. 3 seconds until you see the clock flashing. 2. Use the up and down to change the values and the right and left (<< >>) to change from hours to minutes. Then hit the Disp to exit.
