You can enter a 4-digit security code which must be used when the unit is removed from the vehicle, or the constant power source is disconnected from the unit. When constant power is restored to the unit, the security code must be entered before the unit becomes operational.
If the code is lost or forgotten I am afraid the unit has to go to a Kenwood dealer for re-coding.

the usual repair for a morotized face plate with symptions of no display, some buttons working or no buttons working & sometimes even the faceplay not moving, is the ribbon backthat connects the main unit to the face plate. Sometime you might be able to see the gold/yellow flat ribbon as the face plate flips. it's not too difficult to cange but it takes patience. the cables run around $15 to $30.00.if you replace it yourself, watch out incase the spring for the ribbon tension unwinds. good luck
Reset a Kenwood 8070 without a remote?
To reset a Kenwood 8070 receiver without a remote, you typically need to locate the reset button on the device itself. This button is often small and recessed, so you may need a paperclip or a similar tool to press it. Consult the user manual or look for the reset button near the power or input/output ports on the receiver. Once located, press and hold the reset button for a few seconds until you see the receiver reset. Keep in mind that this process may vary slightly depending on the specific model of the Kenwood 8070 receiver.
