If this dvd player was working fine before then it is not problem of entering region code, it seems problem with optical laser lens that got clogged by thin layer of dust on it that needs to be removed so laser lens could read out data on disc correctly.
Put laser lens cleaning disc in player and press play button, little brush mounted on cleaning disc will clean dust on laser lens in player.
If that does not solve the issue then tape off top cover of dvd player and clean optical lens manually with good quality cotton swab/ bud gently in circular motion.

If you are looking for region hack for this dvd player, try following method.
Turn on the player, without a disc inserted.
Press PLAY on the player for 6 secs.
Change region using UP/DOWN.
Press ENTER and check dvd playback.

well, many dvd players do that unfortunately there is nothing to do except for waiting the player until it finishes reading. for once, I've had the same problem with my philips, it has just insisted on not giving that DVD back to me. I recommend that you set the player to standby mode for a while then push the eject button "insistently" as soon as it gets turned on.

You most likely have a shorted or grounded wire. First remove all the speaker wires with the power off then power it on to see what happens. If it powers on just fine then it's one of the speaker wires that's causing the problem. Power it back off and add one speaker wire then power it back on and repeat the process until you find the culprit. If it doesn't power on initially with the speaker wires disconnected then the problem lies in the main power, the remote power wire or quite possibly a poor ground which is very very common.
