CD player will not read disks
The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, over time the laser becomes weaker until it can no longer read the disc, the whole assembly must be replaced since individual parts are not an option, but first! buy a CD cleaning kit and follow the instructions, sometimes this will give more life to the player.

Sharp Stereo- Protect Mode??
Try plugging in a pair of headphones. I tried it without the speakers connected and since it found the headphones and they were OK the system came out of protect mode.
I have an old Kenwood DP-R892 and when I load a disc it wont play, it will just stay at 0:00, any idea on whats the problem or how to fix it?
The laser head is held onto a carrier and that carrier slides on rails. The disk reads from the inside track to the outer edge. Put in a cd and note the position of the label, close the tray and try to play it. Eject it and see if the lable shows it has rotated. If it has not moved then it is the motor that spins the CD that is not working. Next if the motor is working is to check the carrier. You may have to open the case to do this. See if the carrier slides freely on the rails and move it all the way to the center. Try it again. You also may want to clean the rails with a soft cloth. If the carrier moves and the disk spins, the last thing is the laser diode not working. THis could be a bad diode, a power or cable issue,..
Kenwood Receiver (KR-A46) Loses Station Presets on Power-Off
it sounds like the button cell battery inside the receiver has gone bad if you take the cover off you will see it its about the size of a quarter. You can purchase a new one for around $4. Let me know if this works or if you need assistance in taking the cover off the receiver
