Kenwood VR-405 Receiver - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Reear speakers not putting out sound
If the TV sound source is through stereo RCA cables you'll only get rear sound if you choose one of the DSP modes. A digital source might work as expected, IF you have things correctly set up for multi-channel.
IR REceiver doesn't work. My remote won't work.
Have you tried different remote or batteries? If so, and you have the same problem, then the Infared remote sensor unit is faulty. Most likely due to bad or overheated capacitors. If the unit does not power on at all, then check that the fuse is not burned out. If not, then power supply is most likely faulty due to bad caps
Different Audio options from an older receiver
If your receiver has a multichannel input and the player has the multchannel output then that is the only way you can get surround sound from it with source inputs that it cannot decode, such as DTS. The player will then do it alone.
However, in the setup menu of the blu ray player you should be able to change the audio output to downmix to 2ch audio...at least you'll get to watch the movie.
Kenwood A-97 Sound gone poor
It sounds like the amplifier is going. I remember when I accidentaly crossed wires, the amp did the same thing, then one day it shut off. It wasn't the same amp, but it doesn't matter, it sounds like the amp is on its way out. :/
If you still have the warranty, I would have them take a look.
How do i use the dolby digital
You have to connect your dvd player to your kenwood receiver by using the digital port.
DVD ------------ Digital out
Receiver ------------- Digital input
Only makes a loud popping noise now
if it is still in warranty take to get fixed if not pull the case off and check the fuses if ones blown go buy a new one the correct size is written on them, if no fuses are blown then its worse, if you have friends who know about electronics get them to look at it otherwise take it to a repair shop
I have a vr-405 5.1 channels reciever, I have it
try to be a little more clear on what you are trying to do.do you have it connected to hdtv and cable box if so run hdmi cable from cable box to tv and then run optical cable from reciever to cable box you then must turn reciever to cd/dvd to listen to it leave reciever in auto mode go into cable box menu under audio and select dolby digital
Receiver works with digital signal input jack only.
Are you talking about the 6 channel input with all RCA jacks? Please explain a little better, it is very hard to know how you have it connected without a very good description since I can not put my eyes on it. You may need to check the settings, it may have the rears muted. More information from you will help me to be able to help you.
