SMC Barricade 7004 Router - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

You should be able to download drivers and firmware from the smc site here.
Also see the FAQ or knowledge base articles to help you with installation questions.
A great site for help with all sorts of broadband and or wireless issues is this one. It takes a little reading to find the right section, perhaps, but a wealth of reliable info there. (You'll see there's an SMC forum, but read the FAQs too.)

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

This is the wireless encryption key. Follow my directions that I posted here to get some instructions on how to locate it and/or change it.

The concept is the same. You have to log in to your router's control panel to locate the Wireless Encryption Key (which you are referencing as a, "License Key"). In this same region you will be able to change any settings on the wireless encryption and even change your password.

Let us know how it turns out and if we can assist you further.

check if this problem is with both wired and wireless computers, if not with the wired..only wireless has problems, check if you have any other wireless device operating in the same frequency of the router..if s, turn off other devices and check b.cos that me interfere your w/ls connection, if wired is having the same problem, connect modem straight to the pc and observe the connection, so that you can isolate problem..

Try www.portforward.com
I didn't see your model listed, but perhaps you didn't list the complete number?
SMC.com has complete manuals, but, once again your model isn't listed.

I would also recommend backing up the settings of the router, this should be within the settings menu somewhere, so as you can just restore the backup next time theres a fault.

1. In the routers web-interface, click on login (password would be either blank or smcadmin) -> home network settings -> wireless -> channel and SSID. 2. In channel and SSID go to wireless mode and select the option 'dynamic turbo' and apply the settings. 3. Now turbo cards can connect at 108 mbps with turbo router in the wireless computer.

To enable encryption, you need to log into the router's configuration page: Click on Login -> Advanced Setup -> Wireless -> Encryption Think up a Hexadecimal code with the appropriate amount of characters for the level of encryption you wish to use (Hexadecimal means you can use any number between 0 and 9, and the letters A through F). 128-bit encryption uses 26 characters. Example: 01 2C 45 67 89 A0 CD EF 01 23 45 6D F9 64-bit encryption uses 10 characters. Example: 01 A3 45 F7 89

In the routers web-interface -> click on login -> Advanced setup -> check whether the wireless module of the router is enabled or not. Also, click on disable -> now enable it -> save the settings -> power cycle the router and check whether the problem persists or not. Alternatively, reset the router and check.

The password would be blank/admin/smcadmin by default. Blank password implies that you need to click on login without giving any input. But, if you have set a password on your own and not able to recollect it, try resetting the router.

You will have to use a paper clip or a similar pointed object to do the reset procedure. Hard reset: Insert the paper clip to the reset button and hold it down for 15 seconds, while the paper clip is still in unplug the power cord that goes in to the router, now wait for 15 more seconds and then give the power supply back to the router, again wait for 15 more seconds and finally let the clip go. You will see the router's LEDs flashing. If this happens it means that we have successfully completed the reset. Soft reset: Login to the router, go to the Tools menu, click on configuration tools and select the option restore router to factory defaults to reset the router.

Before doing the firmware upgrade, write down all the configuration settings made by you in the router. To upgrade the firmware, login to the router's web interface -> enter the password (smcadmin) -> click on login -> tools -> firmware upgrade -> click on browse -> browse to the location of the upgrade file -> click on 'Begin Upgrade' button -> you will be prompted to confirm the upgrade.

1. Open your web browser, type in the router's IP address (standard: 'http://192.168.2.1') and press enter. 2. Click on Login, Advanced Setup, Firewall, enable it and click on apply. 3. Click on DMZ and select Yes to enable DMZ. 4. Enter the IP address of the machine, which was assigned a static ip address to be kept under DMZ, and click on apply.
