Midland 75-822 40-Channels Handheld CB Radio - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Transmitting problem on motorcycle
- Make sure you run the CB directly to the battery. What you are hearing is the alternator whining. Even then sometimes a low pass filter may be necessary. Make sure the chassis of your CB is grounded with a copper braid strap too.
I have a Midland 75-822
- Their is no power save mode on this CB in the terms I think your thinking of. There is a high and low power that deals with how much power the CB puts out when transmitting that will make your battery last longer but this would have no bearing on the issue you are having.
- If you are using a power cord all the time then remove the batteries from the CB until you need them. There are two thumb clips you pull down on and pop the compartments off (one is for rechargeable and one is for regular Alkaline batteries).
- If the CB is actually powering on and off you have a power feed issue such as a bad connection, a failing power feed socket, a weak inline fuse on the power cord about to blow or something internal is malfunctioning.
I have a midland 75-822
your problem has many fixes depending on how you use your radio, but first think of were you are transmitting from a van or car is literally a big metal box so the squelch minimum will increase a bit if your antenna is inside the van. but if you use/get the UHF-DC adapter for this radio it will alow you to mount a exturnal antenna on the outside of the van, the other possibility is a bad placement of the antenna try changing its location. however if the noise increases as you excelarate then you might need a in line DC Noise Filter.
Midland 75-822 no transmission in
there is no transmission on FM because CB is at 26 to 27Mhz on the AM Band and as with your car radio FM starts around 88Mhz. the other reason is tha one one modulates amplatude(AM) slightly to cary the signal, FM modulates the frequincy slightly to carry the transmission.
if you want to talk on FM you might want to become a Amateur "Ham" Radio Operator.
How can i modify the midland 75-822 for more
Modding your CB for more channels puts the radio into Ham bands which you need a license to transmit on, also modding a CB violates FCC part 95 rules and is therefor illegal to transmit with and the hams report most illegal transmitting on there band
How can i get the
No. CB radios operate in the 27 MHz range and cannot be modified for out of band operation.
