Modulation on 1001Lwx midland cb

hello,
The limiter is what limits the modulation. Often times there is a pot that you can turn to adjust it. To get more power and swing out of your radio do this DM1 is the mod limiter RVM1 is the mod pot. Adjust this for maximum modulation. Spread the coils marked Lt5/LT12 just a little Spread LT7/LT11 a lot.

Is it my CB antenna or something else

First off, Midland makes a fine radio. Make sure your squelch is turned all the way down to receive distant signals (down meaning counter clockwise). The through the glass antennas are not the best thing in the world. I personally use a 102" whip and a 6" spring on a modified mirror mount. It is installed on the tailgate side of the tool box. The TX and RX is amazing. Wilson and K40 make great antennas also.

When I key my mic the people that I am trying to

Either the microphone is faulty, or there is a fault with the modulator. Try a new microphone or check the connections, failing that take it to a rig doctor.

Do i need a certain antenna?

The fiberglass provides no ground plane area for the antenna and radio waves. Your Standing waves (aka: SWR or Reflect) are probably very high. I suggest mounting the antenna on the cab of the truck. You "could" try aluminum tape on the cap and mount the sheilded side of the coax to it somehow. Without a ground plane much of the RF Power of you CB will be reflected back to the Final Output Transistor(s) (Final or Finals), overheat it and possibly damage and burn it/them out. If you are just running the CB without an amplifier(Linear or sometimes called a box), a magnetic mount antenna should work fine and be less of a problem than permanently mounted antennas. That's a plus when going into a parking garage. Even if you decice to get an amplifier at a later date, you should be able to use it with the magnetic mount antenna as long as the antenna you but is rated for several hundred watts, you Standing Waves are Low, and the amplifier doesn't put out more power than the antenna is rated for. I hope this helps.

How do you turn up the power on a midland 1001z

You can't "turn it up". You may be able to carefully compress or spread the coil windings near the Final Output Transistor (Q 14 a 2SC 2078) to get a bit more out of it but it isn't a real "Big Time" CB like the Cobra 29's. Sorry.

When i keyup my d104 mic on cober 148 gtl ihear feedback squeal.but the d104 work good cobera 2000 gtl

try to keep the mic away from the radio speaker.check to see if its turned up to high.check your mic gain to make sure its like 1/2 open.If these fail then you could solder two 0.001 ceramic disc capacitors from the audio to the shield wires about 3" apart.then on the audio wire in between the 2 caps solder a 4700 ohm 1/4 w resistor.this should work.
