I love my radio and

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you're reading this. Thank you for choosing FixYa to solve your problem. Your problem is that your weather radio is not giving you updates and your warning lights are not coming on when there's a severe weather warning? I am first going to tell you to check your S.A.M.E code to make sure you have it programmed for your county. If this is correct, I don'there's anything wrong with your radio. I think, the problem might be your county/area's transmitter tower. If your county/area's transmitter tower is near one the states that have been recently attacked by tornadoes or severe weather, the transmitter tower may be out of service. You say you live in Georgia, so further in this explanation I will give you the NWS's (National Weather Service's) weather radio programming information website for your state. This will give you information for every county in your state including which transmitters are out of service if any. If the tower for your county is out of service, check a county that's near your area to see if their tower is out service. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/Maps/PHP/georgia.php gives you all the NWR stations in your state. Click on your county and it will show you a map of their broadcasting area. If it's not out of service, program that county's S.A.M.E code into your radio. You should also change the frequency channel to that same county as well.

http://www.weather.gov/nwr/CntyCov/nwrGA.htm

You may also want to check your antenna to make sure it's connected properly and fully extended. The National Weather Service has certain criteria that a storm must follow in order for them to sound the alarm. I assure you that the lights will come on when the radio is giving you a warning. To find out more information about this, log on to this website -http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/nwrwarn.htm. I hope you get your radio back up and running as soon as possible. You can always go on the National Weather Service's website as well, to get weather updates for your area. I hope you are safe this Severe Weather Season and Thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop solution spot for your problems. Have a good day, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution.

How to find correct county

A. First, determine the counties you are interested in. Then do one of the following
three steps to get the codes:

1. The National Weather Service Toll-Free Number provides S.A.M.E.
County Codes at: 1-888-NWS-S.A.M.E or (1-888-697-7263)
This is what to expect when you call the NWS number. When you call the NWS
toll-free number, automated instructions will guide you to the S.A.M.E. County
Code(s) you need. The number will be six digits long.
• You will hear, "Welcome to the National Weather Service. You have
reached the Specific Area Message Encoding Program Service."
• If you select "touch-tone" to make your entries, you will be prompted to
enter the name of your state using the telephone keypad.
• Next you will be prompted to enter your county name.
• Then you will hear, "Your geographic code is xxxxxx." (This is your
S.A.M.E. County Code.) Be sure to write it down for future reference.
The system will then give you the option to enter "another combination": This
enables you to get additional S.A.M.E. Codes for surrounding counties.

2. The Internet Web Site of National Weather Servicewww.
nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm.
This is what to expect when you go to the website.
• The link above takes you directly to the list of states.
• Click on (your state).
• Find your county, and record the "S.A.M.E. #" (the S.A.M.E. County
Code) that is listed to the right of your county, and for any other counties
in which you are interested.
WR-100 Owner's Manual
Page 8 www.midlandradio.com

3. Go to the Midland Radio Corporation website at www.midlandradio.com
• Click on the weather radio link at the top of the page.
• At the top of the weather radio page will be the link to the NWS list of
states and corresponding county codes. Click on the link.
• Click on your state and a list of counties and codes will be listed. Locate
your county and then find your code.

To set the country follow the below steps:

A Single S.A.M.E. County Code:

Press "MENU" button to open menu options.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through menu options until "S.A.M.E.
SET" is displayed, then press "SELECT" button.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through: "SINGLE", "MULTIPLE", or
"ANY."
• Display "SINGLE", then press "SELECT." "S.A.M.E.01" will be displayed.
(Note if you are programming a single S.A.M.E. County Code, only the
"01" setting will be used.) Press "SELECT".
• Using the "UP" arrow, find the first digit of your S.A.M.E. County Code.
Press the "RIGHT" arrow to save the digit and automatically
advance to the next digit.
• Program all digits of your S.A.M.E. County Code in the same way.
• Press "SELECT" to store your S.A.M.E. County Code. Press "MENU"
to close the programming menu.
Helpful Tip: The S.A.M.E. code is created using the following method:
• The first digit is the subcounty code-currently 0 in most areas.
• The second two digits represent the state code.
• The last three digits represent the county code.

Multiple S.A.M.E. County Codes:

Press "MENU" button to open menu options.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through menu options until "S.A.M.E.
SET" is displayed, then press "SELECT" button.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through: "SINGLE", "MULTIPLE", or
"ANY."
• Display "MULTIPLE" as explained, then press "SELECT".
"S.A.M.E.01" will be displayed, indicating you will be programming your first
S.A.M.E. County Code at weather radio menu location "01."
• After programming your first S.A.M.E. County Code, press "SELECT" then
the "UP" arrow to advance to "S.A.M.E. 02." Program all of your S.A.M.E.
County Codes in the same way as above.
• When finished entering all your codes, press "MENU" to
close the programming menu.

Hope that helps.

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of You you are reading this. The summary of this problem is that you cannot program your information for Sauk County Wisconsin.Your S.A.M.E code is correct, but I am a little concern about the channel code. I have a Midland WR-100.

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you're reading this. Your complaint is that the stations on your radio do not work and it just rings for no apparent reason? The possible cause of this could be your alert setting. Your alert setting may be set on TONE. When this setting is activated, a ringing sound will be played on your radio for 5 minutes or until any button other than the Weather/Snooze button, on your radio is pressed. If this is the cause to your problem, you need to change your alert type setting. Here are the steps to doing this task...
  1. Press the MENU button.
  2. Use the directional up button until "ALT TYPE" is showing on your screen.
  3. Press SELECT
  4. Using the directional up or down buttons, choose DISPLAY or VOICE.
  5. When this is done, press SELECT.
  6. Press the directional up button until "ALT TEST" is shown on the screen.
  7. Test your alert type to find out if you'd prefer this setting.
  8. If this setting is preferred, press SELECT and MENU to exit. If you prefer to choose another setting, press MENU, then the directional down button until "ALT TYPE" is showing on your screen. Repeat steps 3 through 8.
I hope this solves your problem. Reply back if it doesn't. Thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop solution spot for your problem. Make sure to read our Tips & How-to page for this product. Have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you're reading this solution.
