This is a cap tube system. Try replacing filter, they often become clogged due to the oil used in the system. Cap tube can be clogged as well. could simply be low freon level. Evacuate the system and weigh in R-134A, amount is listed on model sticker. Also remember that when you attach gauges to the high side you are removing up to 2 oz., or more from circulation. Use a gauge with a short hose, like 6", on the high side. Be sure to bleed your low side hose with 134a before attaching to prevent moisture entering system, that also turns the oil to acid and deteriates the filter and clogs cap tube.

thermostats on those things are notoriously bad. probably a bad thermostat. should have numbers 1 - 9 and usually set on 5

The unit has a temperature swing adjustment screw located behind the thermostat plate.If you remove the knob and the face plate you will see it,It can be adjusted there.It may also be the thermostat bulb is going bad or touching something and giving a false signal to the compressor.

try to check if your ref. has a evaporator fan if have try to check if operational. check your thermostat if ok by setting it to coldest and compressor continues operation if not thermostat need replacement. try to check yor condenser fan then condenser if dusty. observe unit.
