You will have to resolder the vertical IC and in most cases replace any capacitor that is near and next to the vertical IC. There may be three capacitors that will be replaced, And while you are in the process of reworking the board inspect for any and all grounds that may need resoldered. You will have to look very close to find these. And you should search the deflection side of the board for two capacitors that have a 160 volt to 250 volts at 1MF, or 2.2 mf or 4.7Mf. By now these little guys are weak and need replaced. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

This is a function of your set-top box (STB), and has nothing to do with the TV. I know several FiOS users with the same trouble, and it's annoying but there isn't anything you can do to "fix" it. What is really strange is that the screen size can change even on the same channel, depending on the particular program being broadcast. It has to do with the aspect ratio of the programming from the provider.

upon realizing that no one would give me any suggestions without charging me, I solved the problem by lugging this huge TV out to the dumpster and throwing it in.

A good eye could help you to know if a solder join is defective, get ahead lookin for it first. But the technical answer to know if the power supply shuts off because an over current or over voltage protection, is always a way to walk thrue. what is sure, it is, if you continue hitting the tv maybe is going to be broken totally.

What you are calling the "antenna module" is actually the tuner. The connector that pulled out is called the F connector. The F connector can be soldered back onto the tuner but this is a very delicate procedure and is especially difficult if any of the coils in the area of the F connector have been bent, altered or moved. The tuner itself is not too expensive and is much easier to replace than trying to replace the F connector, especially if you have never done one before. If you use this set with a cable box then simply connect AV cables from the cable box to the TV set the TV to VIDEO.

I think maybe the G-board needs to be replaced. A TV shop will have to repair it. They normally start around $200.00

If you have had the unit since new and have never programmed a new code into the memory, the default code should restore it.

The default code is usually found in the instruction book/user guide.

You may have come close to what the issue is---Blu Ray for several design reasons is much more critical than DVD---seen a lot with this issue----either a dirty or a failing optical pickup in the unit---I know as when first started seeing it in our shop changed a few and since under warranty found the answer--optical unit was the problem---shortly after that they started just exchanging the cheaper units.
