Repair it ur self,if u can,not than buy a new one,this things are cheap these days.The shop,probally cost the same to the repair priced as a new on.Check the motor that open the tray door,see if that motor is spinning?The motor that open the tray door,might be dead.Tries unplug,replug it an hour later,see if the thing reset itself.Might work again.

This is for code f489 as well as f498
F498 means a problem with flash eprom IC; meaning that unit is unable to read the basic instructions from the eprom IC. Can be cuased by several; may simply be a "bad connection issue" at the eprom Ic or somwhere in the Bus line--defective Ic or corrupted information which may or may not be recovered with a "service recovery" disc.(not an end user procedure)
First step; try resoldering Eprom ic being careful not to bridge pins. second would be to take the unit to a AUTHORIZED ONLY repair shop for a firmware or eeprom update. Good Luck

How to reset lamp for Panasonic PT-vx400nt?
Turn off and unplug the projector.
Locate the lamp cover on the projector.
Remove the lamp cover.
Take out the old lamp.
Insert the new lamp.
Replace the lamp cover.
Reset the lamp hours:
Press the Enter button to display the "Option" menu.
Use the 5 or 6 button to select "Lamp Runtime".
Press and hold the Enter button for approximately 3 seconds.
The "Lamp Runtime" will change to "Time Reset [Power Off]".
Turn off the power and disconnect the power cord.
Finally, plug in and turn on the projector.
Remember to consult your projector's operating instructions manual for specific details and safety precautions.
