The trouble is that vcr's are quickly becoming outdated and losing against the digital market. the only thing I can suggest is go to www.panasonic.com and contact customer support and the technical department to see if they can offer a resolution to the problem.

I moved my Panasonic DMR

Ah, a common, but frustrating problem. To quote other forums, and also from experience, F09 indicates an electrical overload. This would most probably originate from the switchmode power supply circuit. If you are tech. savvy, and have some basic electronic skills, you might open the unit up (if it is not under any warranty) and check for ruptured/swollen/leaky capacitors and try replacing those which appear to be the worst. The PSU would be your best bet here in terms of fault origin.

Or you can submit the combo unit to a reputable service centre and obtain a quote on the likely repair costs (and a second opinion - whether it's economical to repair or not). If the total costs are to be equal to or more than the price of a new unit, consider replacing the unit, but only as a last resort. Get the quote first if you cannot find anything visually wrong or you cannot fix it yourself. Up to you.

Just a suggestion; it may or may not help, but worth investigating - even on a 6 year old model.

How to convert a VHS to DVD on Panasonic DMR-E75V

Do you have the operation manual for this model? No? Just in case you cannot locate your copy, or you don't have one, you can download the free .pdf document of it from the following:

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRE75V.PDF

It is easier to grab the manual online rather than have someone explain usage functions of the appliance here. (copy and paste the URL into your browser)

Bear in mind this is a 2004 model machine so it is getting old - I should point out this model also does not support DVD+R/DVD-R DL/DVD+R DL playback and may not support these formats for recording. However if you are not concerned about that, and you only intend to use DVD-R discs, then the free .pdf manual should help you somewhat.

I have the DVD/VHS recorder/player Panasonic Model

First of all you have to connect only one SCART cable ( one end to TV and the other to DMR ).When you are watching a program on TV select the DMR source ( input selector ) to SCART. Just press the record button with a blank DVD inside and it will record. Some Digital broadcast might have copy protect content which will prevent the recording from happening.

All dvd-ram, even new, apear to be protected,

You cannot record on ANY disc in this unit? Protection on? I have a DMR-EZ48V with the same issue. Protection ON - RW DVDs not recognised. From recent experience, I am advised that it is the DVD-RAM drive, this is not a serviceable part, it must be replaced, and the existing firmware upgraded/reset by an authorised service centre. Only a workshop with the right facilities can restore the record function in these combos, if it indeed CAN be restored. Panasonic are aware of this as a common problem but they cannot explain it. Not economical or cheap via this option - as new DVD drives can cost anywhere around $400+ plus labour!

Is it worth taking to a repair shop to get a FREE quote on likely costs? It's up to you. I don't want to feed you anything here, except what Panasonic Australia have informed me about.

The clicking noise is caused by the pladder disc the dvd sits on, you can attempt to take the lid off and see if you can adjust the pladder disc a notch up, if that does not work it indicates a bad pladder motor.
