Not much you can do without a remote for this model except play 1 disc (CD or DVD) manually at a time. You could try to obtain a replacement of the original remote directly from Panasonic, or you can look again for your lost one in your home, or you can try a (cheaper) universal remote with this unit. The cost depends on what type of remote you get and where you buy it from (if you order through Panasonic there may be an additional shipping charge). Sequential play (one disc after the other automatically) usually can only be set using the remote.
The fact is, this player needs a remote for full functionality If you want random/sequential play for multi discs, the original Panasonic remote is required - try ordering this first if it is available. If not, then consider a universal. (you could also look on eBay for a similar DVD player remote for this model)
The DVD players remote has a button called subtitle or a logo of a TV screen with three dots at the bottom. Press is to change the language or keep pressing till you get last option called off. That should disable the closed caption, but remember when you insert a new disc you will have to do it all over again.
In the dvd players setup, there might be an audio choice (I don't know all of them). Try different settings there. Also, you might not have the audio jacks in the right plugs on the TV or dvd player. Or, the tv is set to a different audio source.
Hello jwbabyj hi, 3 years of good listening to music on your player is rather good for its life, no device doesn't last forever, this failure is due to use, dust, temperature, shock, fluctuating power source and other external devices, which will make you player eventually give up. My solutions suggest the following:
Clean your player lens, there are after market lens cleaners, buy one. and use it to clean the player lens.
You may need to remove the top cover to have access to the lens for manual cleaning if the lens cleaner will not work out. Get one clean ear bud, and dampen one side with warm water, rub this in circular motion to the lens, 3 to 5 revolutions will do, use the other dry side to dry off the lens. replace the cover and test. do this several times until the player works.
If still, this does not work, remove the cover and see if the lens glows visible light, to do this eject the tray, do not place any CD, then close, look at the lens and see if it emits visible light. No light bad lens. needs lens replacement. bring it for service.
Check for worn out belts, does your player spindle spins? no spinning spindle bad player. needs spindle replacement.
You can try to use some rca's to plug into the dvd player and t.v. Rca's are Yellow (Video) White and Red (Left and Right Audio) and make sure your plugging them into the correct spot on the t.v and the dvd player.
If the dvd player is old it maybe the laser pickup lens dirty you can clean the lens but you have to be very very careful if you do try put no pressure on the lens
get a cotton bud/q-tip and clean the lens very gently you will not see much dirt but lite cleaning will remove a film from the lens
I hope this helps
hi
first try disconnecting it for a couple of hours and see if it helps
if the device is out of warranty then:
try pushing the drawer while pressing the play button (like helping it) feel and listen if there is an attempt or a noise indicates that the device is working but something is bad
like the engine drawer, a torn belt, a broke cog
try fixing it if you can with a new part
good luck
The picture rolling is simply because the PAL decoder can't lock up to the 60Hz vertical sync pulses, even if your DVD player is set to NTSC-PAL conversion and there is no vertical hold adjustment (either external or internal) on this model set to achieve this.
There is a possible alternative only if your DVD player has RGB output (not component). The JVC for example has direct RGB drive capability via the SCART input on the back panel. If you get a suitable lead you could try getting a picture this way as it bypasses the decoding and sync sep circuits in the PAL decoder chip.
Check the Power Cord: Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the power outlet. Make sure there are no visible signs of damage to the power cord or the plug.
Inspect the Power Outlet: Try plugging another electronic device (such as a lamp or a phone charger) into the same outlet to verify if it is functioning properly. If other devices work fine, then the issue is likely not with the power outlet.
Check for Tripped Circuit Breakers: Check your circuit breaker or fuse box to see if a circuit breaker has been tripped or a fuse blown. If so, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse and try plugging in your TV again.
Test with Different Power Source: If possible, try plugging your TV into a different power source altogether, such as a different room or building. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the power source you were previously using.
Contact Panasonic Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue and your TV still does not power on, it's likely that there is a hardware problem with the TV itself. In this case, you may need to contact Panasonic customer support for further assistance or to arrange for repairs. Be sure to provide them with details of the troubleshooting steps you've already taken.
Check the Input Source: Make sure you have selected the correct input source on your TV for the device you are using. Use the remote control to cycle through the input options until you find the one connected to your video source.
Check Video Connections: Ensure that all video cables (such as HDMI, component, or composite cables) are securely connected between your TV and the device you are trying to watch content from. A loose or faulty cable connection could result in a loss of video signal.
Restart the TV and Video Source: Try restarting both your TV and the device you are trying to watch content from. Power off both devices, wait a few moments, and then power them back on. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches or issues with the video signal.
Check for Software Updates: Make sure your TV's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes software updates can resolve compatibility issues or bugs that may be affecting video playback. Check the settings menu on your TV for an option to update the firmware, or visit the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to do so.
Reset Video Settings: If you've made any changes to your TV's video settings, such as resolution or picture mode, try resetting them to their default values. This can sometimes resolve issues with video playback.
Try a Different Device: If possible, try connecting a different device (such as a DVD player or gaming console) to your TV to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem lies with the TV itself or with the original device you were using.
Contact Panasonic Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible there may be a hardware problem with your TV. In this case, you may need to contact Panasonic customer support for further assistance or to schedule a repair.

The VCR and DVD recorder won't eject/open on command either, so my guess is the capacitors on the power board are dead. Upvote
