There are too many possibilities for this type of fault. It could be the amplifier, the digital to analog converter, the switching transistors etc.. My advice would be to take the TV to a professional. There are lethal voltages inside the cabinet and unless you know exactly what you are doing, don't take the back off.. Don't risk injury !!
It's a text box for either closed captioning or demonstration mode. Go into the setup menu and turn off closed captioning. If you have trouble doing that, then just restore factory settings.

The VCR and DVD recorder won't eject/open on command either, so my guess is the capacitors on the power board are dead. Upvote
