It depends on the remote. Some will handle combination TV/VCR/DVD units; others do not. The other issue is the age of the remote. Remote codes are limited to those for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. Since it was listed at Amazon in Feb 2004; I'd recommend a remote programmed in 2005 or later.

A guaranteed remote is available here: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&uuid=12970443361250&smodel=PVDF2704&brand_pn=PANASONIC_PVDF2704 . The universal remotes that are programmed via a USB connection with a computer will be the easiest to program. I can't recommend a remote for you. I will recommend that you read the fine print for any given remote (the cheapest ones are most often not able to work with combination TV units).

I hope this helps.

Just select a PHILIPS CL034 UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL. Panasonic is listed in its codes. Codes are

............ 0718 0416 0007

........................... 0618 0807 0039 0739
........................... 0345 0696 0901 0608

Direct Code Entry

1. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH

button until the red indicator stays

on, then release the CODE SEARCH

2. Press and release the desired Mode

button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red

indicator blinks, then stays lit.

3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code

tables. Note: after a valid code entry,

the red indicator turns off. For an

invalid code, the red indicator

4. With your device on, press

CHANNEL UP. If the device

responds, no further programming is

required. Note: If some buttons do

not operate your device, try one of
the other codes for your brand.

Each remote has its own set of codes and supports only a very limited number of tv models. If your tv isn't listed then your only option is to try all the other codes listed for the manufacturer (Panasonic in your case) in the hope one of them will work. If none of them work that the remote isn't supporting it, simple as that.

http://www.nodevice.com/manual/newmans/panasonic/PV-DF204NASVCzip/get27160.html There above is a service manual, this will help you isolate and possibly repair More than likely it is the laser head assembly, as it usually is, this can be replaced relatively cheaply, if parts can be obtained, this is what you need a service manual to get the part numbers. You could also just replace the entire DVD unit, as that;s some times easier and less expensive.

Although the TV is digital, the market has not dumped the analog compatibility (yet). You can connect your VCR through the RF input, using channel 2, 3 or 4 (depending on your VCR) to view your video collection. Or, you can connect your VCR by RCA cables to the composite video input. Most TVs now have only 1 or 2 composite inputs (Yellow, White, Red). They are sometimes shared, serving as a component input as well (Green, Blue, Red, White, Red). For these TVs, you will notice a yellow circle or some other marking around the Green connection indicating that it is also a composite input. When connecting to such an input, remember to connect the white (and red if your VCR has one) to the white (again, red applies) to the audio input jacks of this video input. I hope this was of some assistance and not too confusing.
