Panasonic PT-56TW53 56" Rear Projection Television Questions & Answers
Panasonic PT-56TW53 56 in. Rear Projection Television- won't turn on -flashes 3 red lights- what's up?
Your problem could be the Convergence board is loading down the power supplies and will not let the TV set come on, or the power/deflection board, part number AA94-08574A, or the STR type regulator IC, part numberAA13-00105A. If you locate the convergence board, unplug the connectors, and see if the set will come on. if the set does come on, replace both of the STK convergence IC's at once. The part numbers for those IC's are STK392-40. You can get the original replacement IC's from MCM electronics for about 15 to 16 bucks a piece. Do not use the less expensive STK IC's as they are not the same. the replacement IC's should have the name of SANYO printed right on the face of the IC's. Good Luck

Tv will come on but after a minute will shut off.
Three blinks is short protection and 98% chance it means a convergence circuit problem. If you remove back and locate the Two STK-392-110 chips this model should use you will notice a group of small blue resistors in front of them.Examine the ones with 2.2 printed on them in black(it means they are 2.2 ohms) and look for one or more that are discolored in the middle (white). If you find that both chips and the resistor will need to be replaced and the set adjusted.Total parts cost on the net (I can tell you where) would be under 25 dollars.I also in the MARKETPLACE here offer start to finish step by step instructions for this repair that tell you everything you will need and exactly how to do the repair.Market Place is a paying service but if you want it fixed consider that option. You can select an expert and see what he/she charges for this service.Let me know if you have questions and my user name there is SD TECH..

The power light is flashing and the set will not
Possible fault in the power supply section of the Tv, the SMPS, it might be cutting off due to a current limiting function in the circuit. make sure that the connectors are tight specially the ground to the power supply. The other fault can be the lamp itself as it can be defective. make sure that the connections to the lamps are tight. A cross check onthe voltage of the circuit+B can be useful to determine the missing problem.

Screen went black with a vertical rainbow line down the middle
Failue of the vertical section, could be the drive, the power to the section or even some discrete componets. Unless you are familiar with electronics , get some help to ceck out on these circuits, could not be major but to get themain culprit will require good probing.

I have a panasonic PT-56tw53g that will not come
Three blinks is short protection--98% of the time it means one of the two STK-392-110's has shorted.
There is a easy way to prove this. With the set unplugged remove the back cover and locate the 2 chips--they are black and 2 1/2 wide X 1 1/2 tall with 18 pins each---side by side on metal heat sinks with fins---they will have the full stk number printed on them in white letters.
Around them you will find about a dozen light blue resistors most marked with 2.2 ohm--look close at them and if you find even one discolored--it will be somewhat white in the middle--you have found your problem. They can all be tested like a fuse any of the 2.2 resistors with NO reading across them are bad.
I HAVE START TO
FINISH, STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS REPAIR IN THIS SET--I can
post them here if you think you or someone you know can do the repair.
Most shops get 300 or more for this repair--if you buy the chips on Ebay
(I can tell you the seller to look for there) they and any other parts
should total under 30 dollars. The fact that the set is still coming on
means most likely just the two chips need to be replaced and the set
adjusted with the Panasonic remote for this set.
If you have questions or want the instructions rate this solution and let me know and I will post them here---I do this here for FREE.

No Audio or Video, blinking power light
Did you ever find anything out about this? I have a pt-53tw53g with the exact same problem, and I've been unable to find out what the three flashes means.

Pt 56tw53 picture trouble
Based upon your description, the problem area is the convergence circuit. These sets usually have a couple of large black ICs that control the convergence. These Ics either have bad connections on the pins or are failing. You can try resoldering the pins of these ICs if you can solder, or replace them. These ICs are usually marked STKxxx and are attached to a heatsink.
If you get this repaired, expect to pay about $30-$40 for each IC (there can be 2) along with the local labor rate for projection sets.
