Where did you get your board from?

I ordered it directly from panasonic. Though I think it's discontinued now. It's not just a quick swap-out anymore, so I think you're better off taking it to a Panasonic shop.

Display not working

I think this is a common problem with this unit. Everybody I have seen on the message boards has had it happen after the warranty has expired. Mine was out of warranty, and I called Panasonic to ask what they were doing about this problem from a desing point. They basically said there was nothing they could do, but would offer me a small discount to buy a newer model. I started laughing and asked why would I buy another product from a company that has a problem that they have no intention of fixing or finding the cause of. It appears you can buy the part and do it yourself for $30 or so, but I haven't gone that route as of yet.

The display on the front of the dvd player is not working

I finally got some time to run this one down. I first took the "easy" solution and just ordered a new display and replaced it. No luck.

I traced the problem to the grid voltage going to the fluorescent display, it is a vacuum tube and requires grid heater voltage. The circuit goes through a switching transistor on the display board (board not available) through the DVD board (circuit wiring only) through a diode and fuse protector on the power board (also not available) to a transformer. The fuse protector was open, but the transformer was not putting out the right voltage. I replaced the transformer and jumpered the fuse protector and that solved the problem. I will need to put something in there for circuit protection as it may be a current limiting fuse protector but the part was not even in the parts.com parts list.

Cause: Temperature and/or voltage surge caused transformer and fuse protector to fail. Transformer rang OK, only display voltage affected.
My Solution: Replace transformer T1150 and Fuse Protector IP1280.

Possible cause of others who replaced the display board: Voltage surge may have taken out switching transistor Q7001 on display board. This transistor is turned on by QR7201 & QR7201 in a Darlington pair when PowerSave goes low. I did not under stand this function since the display is never completely off. It may dim it but I don't recall the display dimming. It may be non function on this model so jumpering E-C on Q7001 might solve the problem for others.

Parts replaced:
T1150 Transformer G4D2A0000216
IP1280 Fuse Protector K5G252AA0003

I have a panasonic sa vk880 and it wont give sound outputs, when i click on subwoofer button or surrounded enhancer it says error, please help

Try disconnecting all of the speakers except the left and right main speakers. If it works, check the wiring at the back of each speaker to make sure there aren't any shorts between the terminals. Better yet, just inspect the terminals both at the audio unit and the backs of the speakers. Stray strands of wire reaching across to the other terminal or exposed wire on the other side are a common problem. If you have that all cleaned up and still have the error, you may have shorted transistors in the output amp of one of the channels, very likely the subwoofer. This may be caused by shorted speaker wiring, or the amp may have failed on its own. In either case, you would have to replace both of the output transistors for that channel (they may be built into a power amp module, in which case the module must be replaced). This requires soldering skill, and the knowledge to identify the transistors and check them with an ohmmeter. Most of the time, it's a basic job for any skilled electronic technician. (I did run into one model that would have required two days of disassembly labor just to get at the failed transistors - I told the customer that wasn't designed for service and he would be better off buying something different to replace it.)

Panasonic DVD CD and vidio CD made in 2002

If your Panasonic DVD/CD player is not reading CDs and is making a grinding noise, there could be several issues at play. Keep in mind that specific troubleshooting steps may vary based on the exact model of your DVD/CD player. However, here are some general suggestions:
  1. Cleaning the Optical Lens: Over time, the optical lens inside the DVD/CD player can accumulate dust and debris, leading to reading issues. You can try using a CD/DVD lens cleaning kit to clean the lens. Follow the instructions provided with the cleaning kit.
  2. Check the Disc: Ensure that the discs you are using are clean and free from scratches. Even new CDs can have manufacturing defects. Try using different CDs to see if the issue persists.
  3. Inspect the Loading Mechanism: The grinding noise you're hearing could be related to a problem with the loading mechanism. Open the disc tray and visually inspect for any obstructions or foreign objects that may be hindering the movement of the tray.
  4. Reset the Player: Turn off the DVD/CD player and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.
  5. Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your DVD/CD player. Visit the Panasonic website, enter your model number, and look for firmware updates and instructions on how to perform them.
  6. Professional Inspection: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it may be necessary to seek professional assistance. There could be a mechanical problem with the internal components of the player that requires specialized attention.
If you are unable to find the exact manual for your specific model online, you may want to contact Panasonic customer support directly. They can provide you with model-specific advice and may have access to manuals or troubleshooting guides for your particular DVD/CD player.
