The sound is distorted and overwhelmed by static
Depends what the real problem is.
Is it related to certain sources only - try new or reseated cables, swap it to a different input; single channel - swap to isolate; or certain controls that have become noisy? A shop might be able to get some tuner cleaner into them.

Actually I have a SA-HT840 but this was the
Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly
There are 2 things that relate to the center speaker and that is C-focus and Super sound.
Turn off super sound as that makes the sound the same from all speakers regardless of your position in the room.
C- focus will NOT work when super sound is on.
If you can't get C-focus to work then you need to turn off supersound.
Hopefully this solves your no center speaker problem.
Thanks for using FixYa!

We have a Panasonic SA
You've got a couple of things to check...
First, it sounds like you are hearing it on all of your sources. That indicates to me that it is not source dependent and that the problem lies either with the recevier or the speakers.
The Panasonic should have no problem driving the five speakers assuming they are not all 4 ohm or highly inefficient and you are not expecting rock concert levels out of them.
Does this happen when listening to both 2ch and 5ch sources?
Does volume level seem to have anything to do with it? Have you tried just letting it play at a low volume and seeing if the problem still occurs?
The next thing to do is check all of the connections, unplug and replug them...speakers to. How is everything connected? Analog or digital, btw...this receiver shines with digital sources.

Panasonic Receiver SA-XR25
I thought it might be heat related, so I put a small battery operated fan behind the receiver, and voila, no more clicking. I just have to invest in rechargable batteries or an electric fan.

Receiver has lost audio
There are four surface mounted caps, 22uf/10v under the surround processor PCB on the main PCB.
Just replace them all.
That took care of my static problem.

No darn pre-amp outputs on the XR25 model......arrrrg!
Different circuit boards are involved here, and what you propose would be cost-prohibitive in that you would have to come up with a 45 board, or rework the old board(very tedious!). Take the plunge and stay the course on factory built items in this case...accordianman

No sound on DVD mode
Make sure when you select DVD mode that it's not set to "6 ch". (The display will say "DVD 6CH")
If you are in the 6CH mode, Use the remote to switch out of this mode by hitting the DVD button again.
Hope this helps.

Loses audio in tv mode
I had the same problem (CD mode) but today all audio is gone.
I opened it up and found no visual problems. There are 3 main boards inside, one where all audio inputs go to. I think that board is bad. Not much help I know. Good luck finding the answer. I'm doing a search on know problems now, If I find anything, I'll post back.

I have a panasonic sa vk880 and it wont give sound outputs, when i click on subwoofer button or surrounded enhancer it says error, please help
Try disconnecting all of the speakers except the left and right main speakers. If it works, check the wiring at the back of each speaker to make sure there aren't any shorts between the terminals. Better yet, just inspect the terminals both at the audio unit and the backs of the speakers. Stray strands of wire reaching across to the other terminal or exposed wire on the other side are a common problem.
If you have that all cleaned up and still have the error, you may have shorted transistors in the output amp of one of the channels, very likely the subwoofer. This may be caused by shorted speaker wiring, or the amp may have failed on its own. In either case, you would have to replace both of the output transistors for that channel (they may be built into a power amp module, in which case the module must be replaced). This requires soldering skill, and the knowledge to identify the transistors and check them with an ohmmeter. Most of the time, it's a basic job for any skilled electronic technician. (I did run into one model that would have required two days of disassembly labor just to get at the failed transistors - I told the customer that wasn't designed for service and he would be better off buying something different to replace it.)
