It sounds like the volume button may be jammed or the volume up switch may be bad. If the switch is open just enough to let some voltage through it locks up the microprocessor. Unless you have a multimeter and know how to check resistance on a switch you would be better having a professional repair person check it out.

Hello! My Sony CDX-L480X car radio can't read the
Please try to put in an ordinary audio CD track and see if this is detected. If yes the optical is working, if not there is no laser scanning ,then the possibility of the head being faulty is high.
Now certain cleaner disks are not read and so will not be tracked. Hence it could reject but the best is do a cleaning manually of the laser head eye with a cotton bud very softly and without any pressing of the lens eye.
If there is still no result then watch the CD if it spins or tries to spin. If the head unit moves up or down to focus or in and out of the drive, if so the board seems to work correctly and the possibility of the optical head being the suspected fault is closer.
But if any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of the processor board

I had the same problem, CD not accepted by unit and pressing source button to select CD player causes unit to display reset.
Using reset button just causes unit to 'whir' for a while, problem is not solved. Firstly with unit switched off, and the ignition off I inserted a CD using some gentle force, I then inserted a second CD, forcing it in over the top of the first. Next I pressed and held the reset button for a short time before releasing it. Both CDs were ejected, when the unit had stopped I took the CDs out, replaced the front panel and turned on the ignition, The unit will now accept CDs and eject them O.K.
(This did take two attempts to get right). Seems to reset the eject status of the CD player.
