Make sure the MUTE function has not been activated. Try turning up the volume level. Check that there are no headphones connected. Check if the issue also occurs to other device connected to the TV. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00023449

As there could be so many different part numbers within even the same model TV you will need to take the old part out and read the part number directly from that.

Sony Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some projection models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 (flyback transformer), or the associative components in the high voltage circuits are defective on the D board.

This sounds like a backlight issue....... If you shine a torch light into the screen do you see a faint picture? If yes then definitely a backlight issue but it could be the led backlights blown or the T-con board, further tests would be required to determine which.

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player. Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/ South America Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries. Google for the programs. A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.

Try disk on other machine to see if it works. If it does then the issue is with your machine. If it does not, then the problem is with your disk.
