These blinks (flashes) are fault indication. By the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can vet an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the blinks occur at one time switch ON, carefully. Do it once again, and make sure about the number of blinks. look for the power supply first, check for any bulging electrolytic capacitor.just replaced with new one with the same rating and capacity.

Video output section has the fault. Check all the components on the video output section, which can be located at the picture tube base card.

Mine had the continuous blinking , and sometimes 2 blinks after trying to turn it on again. I was given the tv and after checking it out found two blown T3.15 amp glass fuses on the audio amp. T for time delay. I went to a recycle center and bought two complete chassis for my model kp53s25. I started changing the standby power supply first. Still did the same thing. I changed the high voltage board with the smaller transformer only and leaving the other larger high voltage transformer in the set. I just cut and spliced the single connecting high voltage line between the two high voltage transformers. Still had the same problem. I change the audio board and the set would work until I believe the audio board heated up or had an intermitant short and the tv would shut down. I replaced the full audio board with another and now the tv stays on and is working great. There seems to be a overheating problem with the sony audio board and i may buy a muffin fan to fit over the audio boards large heat sinks for added cooling in the rear right hand corner of the tv . Touching the heat sinks after tv has been on a while is very warm. Find a recycle center as I bought the parts I needed for 10 dollars for two complete chassis. I should have keep the color projection tubes.

Sony picture tubes are very difficult to get from open market. Just contact the nearest Sony Authorised Service center. OK.

usually after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to tube ) becomes weak - then TV won't get ON.. means no picture no sound ..but LED blinks - in some TVs along with EHT 1 or 2 components like resistor, transistors, etc will also gets deffective ............... so solution is TV circuit board has to be checked to find whether only EHT is deffective or other components are also deffective - price of EHT will be between Rs.250 (US$ 5) to Rs.600 ( US$ 12) ........iam from bangalore (09986222774, [email protected] ) .....i don't have any idea about EHT component's price & service charge in your area........this problem cannot be solved by user unless user is a technical person having idea about components (resistors, transistors,diodes,...etc..), having multimeter , soldering iron & other tools...so my suggestion call TV service engineer or contact sony service centre.........

1) Convergence amps failed overloading the supply (See if you can disconnect them)
2) High Voltage circuit has died. (Right on schedule if your TV is 10 years old)
3) One of the CRTs has shorted
4) The power supply itself has died (Is there a lot of dust covering it?)
See if you can isolate the failure by working down the list.

There are 2 screens for this set, a protective (outer) screen and a fresnel (inner) screen. Which one needs to be replaced?

#1. is the ground witch the connector can be found most likely from the crt tube ground, the one that clip with return spring.

#2. is the flyback screen voltage can be found from flyback transformer most common color is red and be insert to the hole.  

Try another Tv on the same aerial lead. If you have the same problem check that the UHF aerial lead plug is secure and that the centre core is secured and clean with a good strapped earth.
You cannot adjust your tuner without using specialist tuning equipment.It would be a direct replacement. If your aerial lead proves ok, check for dry solder joints on the main pcb where the tuner is soldered in. Also check for dry solder joints around the power supply and Line output stage. Next look for bulging or popped-canned capacitors around the power supply and Line output stage. The problem may not be your tuner, but a dry joint on the pcb. Gently tap the pcb with an insulated object to see if this causes the problem to occur, and you can sometimes locate the area of the problem.

If it seems to shut off after a consistent amount of time each time, check to see if it has been programmed to do so.

check with maufactuer error codes and manual.. probably manual wont say .. seems like an error code.

Ur FBT,Fly Back Transformer high voltage is dead, the black block of plastic with a red wire with cap hook to a CRT(Tv Tube).

Picture won't come on. It clicks a couple of times then red stand by
light starts blinking
