These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Four blinks = No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505 (this varies from model to model). If you have no expertise with sets like this, or this does not solve your problem, get a quote from an authorized SONY service centre - before going any further or getting the set fixed. It doesn't matter if the set is a flat panel widescreen or standard CRT model; the symptoms are similar for each and the repair costs for such will be pretty much the same.

Check its video output card for any loose solder terminals. This card can be located at the neck of the picture tube, will directly plugged on to it. The is a common fault found to most of the Sony CRT TVs. Re-solder all the suspected loose solder terminals, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short circuit in between adjacent close solder terminals. In most cases, this must solve the problem. To get some details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/Pull up older posts.

Hello
There is some loose soderings in the horizontal output section of your Sony Tv. it is common to get the lead solderings of the components which get heated during working; and will caus loose soderings to occur there in long run. Take out the printed circuit board out of your TV, turn it upside down, and resolder most of the suspected points at horizontal output section by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge in between adjecent solder point. This must solve your TVs problem. OK.
