Pulse and blinks only

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Check its main power regulator section circuit for any loose solder terminals. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals, by applying a little more solder to each terminals. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair! Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact the nearest service center!

How can I turn the screen voltage up?

On many Sony CRTs, the Screen (G2) voltage pot is located on the neck board instead of on the flyback transformer.

How can I turn the screen voltage up?

from description you are on the right track--screen con inside will either be on the crt circuit board or on the high voltage transformer, on or the other--lots of the older Sony sets when the picture tube gets weaker need this done.

This fault sounds like failure of the LINE OUTPUT TRANSFORMER.
It can be fixed, but may cost you around $120, possibly more if you have to call out an engineer.
Best NOT to use the TV as it is, because it could possibly damage the system.
If you do use it, this line will become permanent and if you get the TV fixed later, there will always be a burnt section of the screen where the line was - so I suggest you either pay to get it fixed right away, or consider buying a replacement.

Hope this helps!

Picture when turned on, then image rolled up

Hi,
Your vertical sync has gone bad. This is a very technical trouble on your unit.
The possible causes is the faulty ceramic capacitor on the jungle IC or the jungle IC itself.
Finding the faulty parts on that area required the diagram.
I've advice you to send your unit to your local Sony Service Center to fix the problem.
Also consider if your unit is still under warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day! JDVillanueva

Hello there,

Sounds like some software or hard ware problem in the TV it self , so connections and Resetting can not help you with this problem.
I would try a full default of the TV SET use the user manual to find out how to default the TV Set if you want a step by step Defaulting let me know .

Thank you don't forget to rate

You must resolder the vertical IC. And check and replace any capacitors that are near and next to the vertical IC. Very common problem for this TV. And...while you are at it inspect any and all grounds on the main board and the power supply board.Resolder as necessary. Thanks for asking and good luck. Show a few hands of support.

Turned tv on - picture came on for a moment - then

You must resolder the vertical IC on this unit. You will find the pins are separated from the TV board. Look very close, and you will find rings around the Vertical IC pins. A very common problem with this model! Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

Sony KDL 46W5150 Audio

The audio amplifier inside the tv has a bad soldering. When the tv heats up that soldering fail, most likely the circuits inside it expands enough to touch something it shouldn't - when that happens the amplifier dies and start drawing a lot of power from the power source. The end result is that the power source is severely overstressed, which triggers the autoprotection system, which shuts down the tv. The brief moment in which the tv is off is enough to allow the circuits to cool off enough to return to their normal positions so the tv can start again.
The tv must be opened, the audio circuits must be inspected and repaired or replaced if necessary - it will cost you around $150. This job requires at least a basic experience in electronics, if you don't have it then call someone who has it, a certified repairman.

Picture is out of focus.

Hello
If sound is ok, and picture only is out of focus, it must be due to the fault of the picture tube base card socket. Base card socket is one which connect the base card to the picture tube. It is diretly soldered to the base card, and can be desoldered it out from the base card and can be replaced with a same type.
You just open your TV, and you can find the base card, a circuitboard alongwith some components, diretly socketed to the picture tube base. Detach it from the pirture tube base. Care must be taken, not to shake sideways of any other directions. Just pull it back straight out. It may feel a little tight. Please check whether company have placed some glue on it or not. If there is glue, make it detach first by any sharp instrument like razor blade or so.
You will see the focus wire, attached to it, and remove it, resolder it out from the board, go for a same type in pin confuguration. Look for good quality material. Never insist on comapny itself. It is not a crucial component, The quality of material is more important. Ok

PICTURE GOES OFF AND ON WHILE TRYING TO WATCH SOMETHING

This could be a "White balance failure" and the probable cause locations listed are as follows:

1. Video OUT (IC9001-IC9003) is faulty (C board)
2. CRT drive (IC201) is faulty (A board)
3. G2 is improperly adjusted.

These are starting points for a qualified service technician. The most likely of the above is IC9001, since it is the RED-VIDEO OUT chip.

WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE TV BLINK ON AND OFF ?

The picture tube is right on the edge of working with the set's AKB, or auto cathode balance. All Sony tube TV's use AKB. AKB is a circuit that attempts to compensate for aging of the picture tube (among other things), and if the tube isn't conducting enough (due to age), it will intermittently blank the screen or, in severe cases, not allow the picture to come on at all. But if you are comfortable taking the back off of the set and making a minor adjustment, you can probably restore the picture for a while longer. Take the back off, turn the set on to a blank channel (receiving snow). You will see a large gizmo with a thick red wire coming out of it going up to the glass on the picture tube. That's the high voltage (a.k.a. flyback) transformer. On this transformer will be a small knob labeled "Screen." If you turn this control ever-so-slightly counterclockwise, the screen will blank off immediately. But if you turn it just a bit clockwise, it may fix your problem. Don't go too far with this control, just enough to make it work. This is DANGEROUS FROM HIGH VOLTAGE, so make sure you have a qualified tech help you do this.

These unit are famous for the PCB Print to be cracked around the HV Circuit and or the Horizontal Drive Transformer pins needing to be resoldered. It can turn into a very Major repair if the HV Components short. In that case the Power Supply will also short out.
