Power Cycle your TV. Remove the lectric plug then press and hold the power button.

Count on how many times it will blink.

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

If it is Sony KV-35S40 tv then problem would be in deflection section located on A board and most probably horizontal output transistor and/or flyback transformer would be shorted out.
I'm not sure about spare parts are available any more because tv is 1998 model.
Let me know if you need schematics of tv if you want to repair tv by yourself OR call local tv repairman to fix it.

Your TVs Base card socket, that is the socket connected to the base of the picture tube is loose. Just unplug it and replug again for tow or three times. Please note for any loose sodering occurs to the pins of the socket and the video output transistors fitted on the picture tube base card. This should rectify the problem.

This sounds like a classic problem. Chances are real good that you have a vertical IC that needs resoldered. It is mounted on an heatsink and may have 7 pins. You will need to pull this IC out and clean the board with a flux cleaner and reinstall this IC. Also, replace any capacitors in the immediate area of this vertical IC. A bad capacitor will run this IC quite warm and will produce bad grounds. If you inspect closely, you will see solder rings [cracked] around each pin of this Vertical IC. This would be the first step for repair. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

I got KV 32ts 46 Sony
Turn on TV and seems OK, then no picture but have sound. I turn it on and off some time pictures come back but goes out again. Pleas help

BAD tuner!! also if you have a vcr use it for your different channels/ set must have EX- AV jacks.

Try hooking up a vcr or dvd player that you know works.The TV "thinks" it's not getting a signal. Be sure the TV's on ch #3 or #4, depending on the output channel for the vcr. If you see/hear the tape on TV you know the TV's ok and the problem's in reception, maybe a loose connection.

you should take it to a TV repair place, they charge $50 to look it over.

sony has problem with bad picture tubes as well as flyback transformers .if you have shorted hori output then replace it if set shorts it out again your looking at bad flyback transformer as well as maybe leaky tube.

Does the sound still work when the picture shuts off? Also does the light in the front blink in any sequence?

The most common reason for no power on your set is a shorted hori output NTE 2353 , and right behind that part is a 1200pf 2kvolt capacitor check it also check out STK-392-150s one of them may control part of start up.

it sounds like you might have lost one of a number of things that cause sound but no picture . one which is common is loss of filiment voltage to the crt

I would have someone check the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply or deflection circuits. You can check them with an ESR meter. Any good technician should have one. I bet one or two of the caps are leaky.
