If you have too much dampness, and or mold inside the set on the circuit boards, most likely there is damage.
The cost of servicing may be too expensive in consideration of the value of the set.

You need to compare the nature functioning or your tv from the normal function to the present malfunction. Detail all your actions or whatever you press or happen right after the symptoms occur. And as much as possible you must also provide the tv manual to help the technician. It is also better if you hire experience or authorized sony technician for more accurate and sure trouble diagnostics.

If its Sony KV-32HS510 TV as model shown on question post then 4 times standby light blink shows error with vertical deflection stopped and most probably Vertical Output IC got bad.
Please confirm model number of your TV to provide you more info. Also let me know if you want to repair it by yourself to guide you.
Please note that TV repair requires fair knowledge of electronics and proper tools because soldering work is involve to fix this problem.

I think the best thing to do is purchase a replacement remote such as universal.

The six blinks code (sony tv error codes) indicates a failure in the horizontal circuit,which means that some faulty components needs to be replaced before it will turn on again.You might need the help of a local tv repairman. Hope this help Good luck.

Try another HDMI scource to see what happens there. If the second HDMI works with no issues then it is just a compatability issue with the DVR to your TV. At that point you will have to use the component inputs which will offer high definition as well.

Before trying anything else try resetting the TV to the factory specs.
To do this simply turn the TV on using the power button on the TV while holding the reset button on the remote. While you are still holding the reset button the TV should turn itself off then back on again.

Vertical oscillator section is missing vertical sync pulse and causing rolling picture in TV.
Does TV gives rolling picture in all inputs?

Six blinks means No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking-self diagnosis immediately. Check C515 and 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.

Replace ic8001 and ic8002.Generic part# mcz3001d

Un plug and let stand for one minute. If it still does blink then use the reset on the remote and press it while pressing the power button on the TV.

Its a problem with the capacitors on the main board. If you open it up you will notice that 1 or maybe two of them have puffed at the tops. Sony will fix this for you for about 200 buxs or if your able to, pull the capacitors yourself and take them to radioshack. You might spend 15 bux tops.

Get out your original remote and hold the "Setup" button at the same time as holding the On/Off button on the TV set. It just worked for me!! Thank goodness. I was just about to bring it for repair but there's a snowstorm.
